What do you think?

Rondo
- The guy proved himself when he carried the Celtics during the Bulls series.

Bynum
- The guy is the best post player in the league. One of the league leader in boards and blocks.

Bynum is not the best post player in the league. Do you have some stats to back up this assertion? Stop listening to Skip Bayless so much

Jeremy Lin gets eight million a year, everyone says "lolz at the Rockets overpaying for Lin" and yet Lin remains overrated. If Lin is overrated, the only group who believes that is Houston. The general consensus on Lin is that he's an average PG.

Derrick Rose is a former MVP so how overrated can he truly be?

The answer to this question is usually players past their prime who go to new teams and people say "this team just added guy X, now they're going somewhere". Guys who fit that description would be Antwan Jamison, Raymond Felton/Jason Kidd, Gerald Wallace.

Don't agree on Griffin... there is a lot of hype, but it's justified. He is still growing into a star, but I give him a pass on that given his ago.

Totally agree on Rondo and Bynum. On both players, I think this could be the year where they go from "rising stars that haven't put it all together yet", to "wait, if this guys really a star why hasn't he put it all together yet".

On Rondo, people give Rondo credit for the Celtics success, but they fail to recognize that Boston has been consistently mediocre offensive team for the past 3 years. If they really have one of the best PGs in basketball, why do they struggle so much offensively? People give Rondo a ton of credit for taking Miami to 7... but if you look at the 3 Celtics wins, KG played was certainly the MVP of those 3 games, and Pierce was arguably better than Rondo. Sure Rondo dropped 44, but it was the luckiest shooting night of his life and the celtics lost anyway.

On Bynum, he is the second best one-on-one scorer out of the low post... but he isn't a good enough passer to run and offense through and he isn't a good enough defender to anchor an elite defense. Sure in an empty gym being defended by Robin Lopez he can score everytime time if you give him the ball in the low post. But any smart team with a decent D can neutralize him with double teams (see Denver 2012).

I think you just nailed the reason why Bynum is overrated.

1. Carmelo Anthony- I don't think he will ever reach the Lebron/Wade/Bryant category in terms of being a complete player, and yet people talk about him like he is. He is a great scorer but he dominates the ball for extended periods of time and when he is cold he absolutely kills the Knicks Offense....

Agree. The basic problem with the kicks is that Melo (and Amare) simply are not elite NBA basketballers.

Rondo isn't overrated, rather I don't know where the Celts would be without him. He seems to really step-up during big games as well.

Bynum is a 7 foot center... Which makes him super valuable right from the get go. More importantly he has solid post moves and can play defense. He might be slightly overrated, but he still is the #2 center in the NBA regardless.

Griffin takes alot of heat for being overrated, but he makes incredible plays on a regular basis and is a perfect fit next to the pass happy Chris Paul. He is already a nightly double-double, and if he fixes his FT shooting he could be one of the leagues best scoring Power Forwards...

Players I do think are Overrated.

2. Kobe Bryant- He is still a top 10 player in the NBA, but his off-ball play is underwhelming and he no longer is a reliable 3 point threat. If you look at he player he was in his 35 ppg season and compare that to footage from last year it is like watching two different players. He should have a great year because of all the attention that teams will be paying Nash and Dwight, but he will also get most of the credit for the Lakers winning- which simply isn't the case.

3. Jason Kidd- watching the guy run up and down the floor is painful- just painful. Father time has claimed the star, but Kidd clearly hasn't realized it yet.

No one thinks he is as good as Lebron why do people always got to make up **** about Melo i just dont get it

Easy answer for me,

Chris Paul

has yet to show he can progress rather than regress in the playoffs since 2008 with the exception of the L.A. series. Really disappointed and went from being a fan to just the opposite.
:o LeBron is 0-7 in game winning/tying FGs in the finals. And is 20/116 or 17% in game winning/tying FGs in the 4th/OT for his career. That's historically bad :o

Lin is overhyped and reaching overexposure, but I would say it's fashionable now to underrate him. People act like he's a scrub getting a superstar salary, when he's a young player with the potential to be above average, getting an average point guard salary.

I agree, and I know people are going to say it's cause I'm a Jazz fan, but not that's not it. I think Paul may be the best PG in the league, but the consensus that he is the best is what drives me nuts. I'll give you that Rose is not the traditional PG, so he loses a few points in that discussion, but MVP Rose to me is as good if not better than Paul currently is. Deron Williams is going to have a great year, he's got a very good team, should be motivated and he's definitely better as a distributor who can also find his shot than someone who has to become a volume scorer like last year. I think Williams will be as good or better than Paul this year. Rondo is a very emotional player, and he seems to be on cruise control during the season, and to me he's without a doubt the best PG come the playoffs. Tell me who else performs at his level come the players at the PG position. Hell I can't name you 5 players in the NBA better in the playoffs than Rondo. So I just gave you 3 guys can arguably take Paul's place as the best PG, but around here it seems like Paul runs away with the title.

Maybe by the coaches that keep putting him in the All-Star game, but I see very little respect for him on these boards. If anything, I think he may one of the more underrated stars in the game.

He took a lotto team to the 2nd round of the playoffs. Look at what happened to NOH without him. Paul is the type of player who can single-handedly take a team from the bottom 10 in the league to the a top 10 .
