Chris Paul

has yet to show he can progress rather than regress in the playoffs since 2008 with the exception of the L.A. series. Really disappointed and went from being a fan to just the opposite.

Any real reason why he's overrated? So basically you are calling him overrated for the simple fact that his teams werent good enough to do better than the teams he played in the playoffs. The dude balled out of control against LA in his last year in the NO and its not like the Hornets were a very good team. Him getting that team to the playoffs those years were a testament to his game itself.

People talk about him in the same company as Wade/Kobe/Lebron all the time, Im not saying that people believe he is as good as lebron in specific, but people approach Carmelo as if he is a top 5 player (or even top 10) in the NBA, which he isn't. To me Carmelo is no more than what prime Kevin Martin was- that being a one dimensional scorer. Furthermore it is undeniable that Carmelo dominates the ball, and in doing so he often keeps other players (see Steve Novak) from making the impact on offense that they could if the ball was properly managed or was used by a player whose play style was conductive to good team-oriented basketball.

In case you were wondering here are a list of players I consider better or more valuable than Carmelo:
CP3
Kobe Bryant
Dwight Howard
Lebron
DWade
Deron Williams
Kevin Love
Kevin Durant
Steve Nash
Tony Parker
Russel Westbrook

And probably more if I really tried....

I consider deaming him an MVP likely (3rd most likely) as an indication of my original argument.

1. Carmelo Anthony--he's definitely a star in this league but if he wants to be the superstar that he's touted to be then he's going to have to produce a lot more than he has been especially in the post season.

2. Rajon Rondo--let me preface this by saying he's one of my favorite players in the league and a guy like him could play on my team any day of the week and twice on Sundays but I'm not buying into the 'best pure PG in the league' thing.

3. Derrick Favors--the guy has a world of potential and looks to already be approaching defensive-maven territory but he's sushi raw on offense and from what I've seen he hasn't really taken any steps forward in that department. I hope he proves me wrong.

How is Melo overrated? Nobody ranks him in the top 5. Nobody compares him to LBJ anymore. Most people rank him in the 8-20 range. How is that overrated that is exactly where his play up until now puts him.

What do you think?

Rondo
- The guy proved himself when he carried the Celtics during the Bulls series.

Bynum
- The guy is the best post player in the league. One of the league leader in boards and blocks.

lol @ best post player. Thanks for verifying OP although i don't think rondo is overrated. Maybe griffin a little bit.

Dwight howrad, al jefferson, lamarcus aldridge, chris bosh, amare stoudemire all better post players than bynum, who had the benefit of playing next to an even better post player in pau gasol and kobe. Those guys gave him so many easy looks it's not even funny.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Josh Smith. Nothing I like more than seeing him rise for a jump shot as an opponent.

Another thinly veiled "Bash Melo" thread.

You are getting better at this, guys.

Since most of the fans here are Heat, Lakers, and Celtics fans I'd assume that you are dead wrong about this.
