You can see who can't take stats into context. Martin will have no issue getting close to Harden efficiency. Harden's job is so simple and so easy due to his cast that advanced stat lovers fell in love with him. As a #1, prepared for below average league efficiency at around 22ppg. Glorified Monta Ellis.

True. All of Harden's offense was easy off the ball shots. He never initiated the offense. He certainly didn't have the ball in his hands in key moments initiating the offense in the playoffs against the Spurs and Lakers last season. That didn't happen. OKC didn't put the ball in his hands at all during the season, even though he's easilly one of the best play making guards in the entire **** NBA.

I love how people who rag on "advanced stats" don't seem to have a basic understanding of the role a player plays on his team. Can you explain Harden's role on OKC, oaklandwarrior?

I'd like to know which version of Kevin Martin you guys have watched lately.

These people are under the impression that Kevin Martin has a mid range game. :o

How many mid range shots has he taken as a rocket?

Kevin Martin is awful. Draft picks are usually awful. You dream of drafting players like Harden, and now you traded him at like 23 years old. So amazingly dumb.

Rockets lost in this trade too lol...this is the worst big trade. No team really helped themselves. rockets locking up that perennial 7-10 seed though lol.

If the Rockets' picks are protected then I completely agree with this.

OKC will regret the move when they get bounced before the finals in the playoffs this year. They have no chance to win a title now. Too cheap of an organization to keep an ungodly trio of 23 year olds together.

And lmao at people acting like their return matters. Getting "value" back for a player is only important to non-contending nobody teams like the Magic, Nuggets, Hornets, Jazz, etc who were never in contention for anything meaningful. The Thunder had the league's youngest team poised to contend for the next decade.

20 something pick Perry Jones?!? Jeremy Lamb? Some mid first round picks? Hahahaha. You guys are trying to justify the trade by bringing up a bunch of unproven nobodies. Lamb can be a total flop - if he was that good maybe he would have been taken in the top 10. Who cares about the Toronto pick? Nobody OKC is getting back in this deal is or ever will be remotely close to as good and as perfect of a fit as Harden was. And he was just 23. Harden represented win now AND win for the future. He was a surefire thing and you know for a fact what you'd get out of him, not to mention the potential for improvement at his young age.

Lakers/Heat finals guaranteed.

@People saying Lamb will be a major player, uhmmm smh?

How could he develop into a stud if he's going to play behind Martin and Sefolosha?

I feel bad for the kid. He's got a smooth NBA-ready offensive game, great NBA body and defensive potential but he's not gonna develop properly because of playing in a win-now team like OKC and getting scrap minutes at SG.

I like this as far as the Spurs' title hopes are concerned. Harden straight up killed SA.

Martin for Harden alone would've been a fair deal. HOU GM is nuts. First overpaying for Lin, now selling the farm for a glorified bench player.

Wow.

Many off the mark things have been said in this thread, but that is definitely near the top.

It's possible that Thabo or Lamb plays SF and backup Durant since Hayward and Cook were both traded to Houston.

I could see Durant playing more stretch 4 this season as well.

Watch Harden's efficiency drop off big time when he is not playing with Durant and Westbrook anymore. Very overrated guy IMO. Good move by OKC.

Lets not forget Westbrook and Durant combining for 35 shots a game. Kid is never gonna be fed the ball, can we say the second coming of Avery Bradley

nuposse04 wrote:Offensively, I consider it a lateral move for OKC. They don't necessarily need Harden's playmaking with Maynor coming back. The cap space should allow them to get solid FA acquisitions plus Lamb is a perfect bench player. Playing with Durant and Westbrook will make life easy for Martin and Lamb. I love this for OKC, and I can see why HOU did it...

Now...just something to consider...if HOU does make it to the playoffs...and LAL does not meet expectations...wouldn't howard be wise to leave the Lakers for Hou? I like a core of

Lin
Harden
Parson
T. Jones
Howard

over a hypothetically underachieving lakers squad. This has big free agency ramifications depending on how it plays out.
I knew this type of post would appear soon........do people use their brains anymore ? This is utterly stupid thinking.

How many mid range shots has he taken as a rocket?

Last year he took 6.2 total per game. Harden took 1.8.

The year before he took 6.9. Harden took 1.9.

KMart last year shot 44% from 16-23 on 3 attempts per game. Harden shot 38% on 1 a game.
