Where the hell was this efficiency from Harden in the Finals!?

Harden + Houston Rockets = "Houston We Have A Problem"

Harden's new nickname will be Apollo 13.

It fits him perfectly.

Kevin Martin went from a FT line champ and a shooter to just a shooter overnight.

I remember you posting this. Not only that but it was obvious from the first week of the season that he wouldn't get the calls he used to get. Matt Bullard complained about it all the time last season. It weird seeing posters defend a version of Kevin Martin that doesn't exist.

They could even go small & move Durant to the 4 for stretches, and bring Lamb or Sefolosha (who shot a career-high 43% from 3 last season) into the mix as well.

Westbrook
Martin
Durant
Ibaka
Perkins

Enough offence from the first 3 to offset the lack of scoring punch from ibaka and Perkins.

Martin must be salivating at the thought of the open looks he's going to get as the beneficiary of all the double teams Westbrook and Durant will garner. Must be an awesome feeling for a shooter.

Id think Kmart would be the scoring punch off the bench....doesnt make much sense to start him when you have Durant and Westbrook carrying the scoring load. Id have it like this ..

Westbrook|Maynor
Sefolosha|KMart
Durant|J.Lamb
Ibaka|PJIII
Perkins|Collinson

Well, I think OKC is much more dynamic and difficult to defend with Martin in the starting 5, playing off of Westbrook and Durant. You double Westbrook and/or Durant, Martin is going to make you pay as one of the best shooters in the game, not to mention his ability to move without the basketball.

It's going to cause teams some fits to be sure. Perkins is really the lone liability there, but he's only in the starting 5 to set a defensive tone - Ibaka will probably play a lot of the minutes at the 5. Him or Collison.

Martin measures out to be a clearly worse defensive player, with some of the biggest negative values I've ever seen from any player. That's Amare-level (or worse? :o ) bad. Yes, Harden is bad, but there are different degrees of bad, and Martin is clearly a lot worse.

And Harden destroys him as an offensive player.

I would certainly not argue for Martin's merits as a defender, but to be fair he also never played on a team that featured players who could cover his mistakes. He plays the less defensively-impactful 2 guard position and will also be playing with other solid defensive players in OKC.

Sucks that OKC had to do this, but they have some nice assets which I think they should flip soon.

Not sure of the match though. If you are paying Harden to be your franchise player, you are going to want him handling the ball a lot. Yet Lin is very ball dominant himself. If he is going to succeed, seems like he will need the ball a lot.

Go back and check out LeBron's efficiency in his first finals against San Antonio. I guess he sucks too? What a stupid and asinine way to judge a player. Yup, realgm where basing an opinion on a player can happen in 5 games... (or preseason).

Not entirely, but you're on to something here. Unlike Durant/Westbrook, Harden played bunch of minutes in lineups that featured fresh and "good fit" bench players. They could score in limited bursts while the starters got their rest.

Harden's True Shooting for the entire playoffs was .605, right in line with his norms. Just so happens his bad games came at the worst time. With some credit - but not all - going to the Heat's defense.

Bill Simmons ‏@sportsguy33

PS: Harden didn't ask for a trade. He just turned down a subpar offer from a team crying poverty that made 30-35 million PROFIT last season.

Did OKC really make that much last year?

Yuri, as a fellow Raptors fan, I cannot believe you took my post seriously, knowing the dry humour that occurs around these parts, especially when the purpose of it(50 pages in 3 hours) was to make a casual segue way into the Apollo 13 comparison, based on his number and new geographical location.

They were already going to be a 9-11th seed without him...with him they'll contend for 7-8

Westbrook and Ibaka are still on their rookie contracts so OKC has been making serious money the past few years

I take it back. Very sorry. Just finding a few of the boards are hemorrhaging stupid right now at a prolific rate.
