I use Twitter more for reading than writing, but if anyone feels like catching a bimonthly tweet, @MJG.
I posted this a week or two ago, but when you put on a game, doesn't it feel like you're watching an expansion team? Roster mostly made of 11th man types? Check. Handful of veteran role players who are slightly better than that, but of course, were available because they were so overpaid? Check. A few young guys who show flashes of being good here and there, but probably aren't legit franchise cornerstones? Check. If a new team opened up shop today and we held an expansion draft, their roster would wind up looking more or less like ours.

Honestly I couldn’t care less whether the team wins or not because I don’t care for the players one iota. The whole starting 5 is filled with NBA journey men probably playing on their last contract or young NBAer’s who project to be potential role players down the line. Beal and Seraphin have potential, however, neither projects to be a perennial all-star so it’s really difficult to get excited for anyone playing on the team.

Re: It's finally happened. I no longer care about the Wizar
I'm like some of the few others who will never quit on this team. No sport to me draws my interest like basketball and I grew up with the team.
I'm also not 'sickened' by this teams roster as some of you are and whine about. We have lost games by 6, 3, 6 (OT), 10, 4, 16, 6, 7, and 6. Six of those loses came against playoff teams; all four of our home games have been against playoff teams from last year. We've been in most if not all off them in the fourth quarter. We're missing our two best players and this rag tag crew has played quite well for stretches, they just haven't caught a damn break.
You may say this is loser talk or that I'm making excuses, that's your prerogative and yes it would be great to have some wins, but I feel we're on the cusp we just need to get that first win under our belt. Some positive things that stand out to me:
1. Team defense
Right now we are ranked 12th in PPG allowed, T-4th in both opponent FGM and FGA, 11th in opponent FG%, 1st in opponent three-pointers made and attempted, 4th in opponents three-point percentage, 9th in opponents APG, and 9th in opponents adjusted FG%. Those are some great number and I would assume neither would be adversely effected when we get Wall and Nene back. We're also 11th ranked in SPG and 14th in BPG.
2. Passing
Team has shown thus far to be willing to share the ball. We are ranked 16th in the league at 21.4 APG (0.5 away from top ten) even without Wall and we are out assisting our opponents despite averaging the least PPG in the league.
3. They play scrappy
You can say what you want, but they don't have quit it them. Down double-digits they've shown in every game that they don't give in, which shows me heart.
4. Beal and Seraphin
Both have shown flashes of being very good players, it's still very early in the season, I expected them to provide reasons for fans as a whole to be more optimistic.
5. Wall
Its sucks that he's been injured, but when he comes back I think we're going to look a lot better. Hopefully the fans who have doubted his ability will get to see how good he can be and how important he is to our team.
With the good said, the bad:
1. Rebounding
As good as our defense has been, it would have looked better had we not been horrible at rebounding, in particular defensive rebounding. To many times this season have we seen teams get second and third attempts. This needs to be addressed, and while Wall and Nene should eventually help, we just need better effort and results overall. Yes I'm talking to you Ves, Booker, Okafor, etc.
2. Getting to the free throw line and deferential
We are 2nd worst in the league in terms of differential. I think its a combination that the refs call nothing on our opponents and a lack of driving to the bucket. Wall will help tremendously with this.
3. Scoring
While I don't think we can be a great offense team by the time the season is wrapped upped we can improve to at least average or slightly above that. It hurts badly having our two best (by a mile) offensive players out.
4. Wins
The giant elephant in the room. Boy would spirits be much better had we pulled out 2 or 3 of the close ones. We'd all be saying "Being 3-6 with Wall and Nene ain't bad at all," unfortunately we know this hasn't been the case.
5. Digging ourselves a big hole
This is self-explanatory and has crippled us, playing ketchup all game long is usually going to lead to misery

I'm the same way. I've only watched bits and pieces of one game this year(the OT loss to Boston). Other then that, I just don't care enough to waste time watching this team. I pretty much lost interest last year with the lockout + terrible team. The NBA as a whole is just...meh right now. If you're not a fan of one of the elite teams you may as well not even bother.
Eric Maynor is the worst basketball player I've ever seen.

Dat's comments: Losses are still losses. There are only 3 other teams out of 29 that have only 2 wins. We've got none. Does missing our best two players hurt? Sure, but the lack of remaining talent is glaring. They're weren't any real legitimate 3rd or 4th options will Wall & Nene (which is why I predicted things to start off this bad) and now were asking guys like Okafor, Ariza, JCraw and a 19 yr old rookie to take the offensive reigns. And frankly, its just offensive to watch.
You may say this is loser talk or that I'm making excuses, that's your prerogative and yes it would be great to have some wins, but I feel we're on the cusp we just need to get that first win under our belt. Some positive things that stand out to me:

Dat's comments: Of course we are! We have no one that can create a quality shot! I laugh when folks call Vesely a good passer when he's clearly playing "hot potato" with the ball because he knows he's a complete self-check.
3. They play scrappy
You can say what you want, but they don't have quit it them. Down double-digits they've shown in every game that they don't give in, which shows me heart.
Dat's comments: Players with limited ability give the appearance of playing harder because their basketball skills don't stand out on a professional level, so were naturally looking for the positive attributes. Also less talented players are going to be more desperate because they're jobs are in more peril than legitimate starters or stars that are confident in their abilities and have the skill to impact the game outside of being just scrappy.
4. Beal and Seraphin
Both have shown flashes of being very good players, it's still very early in the season, I expected them to provide reasons for fans as a whole to be more optimistic.
Seraphin has been terrible. Rebounds like a 130 lb girl and he's allergic to drawing fouls offensively. He's had flashes but overall he's regressed. And it's too early to really get a feel for what Beal will be. I've never seen him as a potential bust but I have wondered about his overall star potential throughout the entire draft process up until now. Only time will tell.
5. Wall
Its sucks that he's been injured, but when he comes back I think we're going to look a lot better. Hopefully the fans who have doubted his ability will get to see how good he can be and how important he is to our team.

Yes I'm talking to you Ves, Booker, Okafor, etc.
Dat's comments: And I thought we acquired Okafor to be that difference maker on the boards, lol. Seraphin as mentioned has been brutal. Booker has taken a step back. Vesely probably wishes he was back overseas. Inside play was supposed to be strength and it's been a disaster instead.
2. Getting to the free throw line and deferential
We are 2nd worst in the league in terms of differential. I think its a combination that the refs call nothing on our opponents and a lack of driving to the bucket. Wall will help tremendously with this.
Dat's comments: Outside of Craw, no one else has the ability to get in the lane consistently. Were a jump shooting team that can't shoot jump shots. When Wall gets back, he's going to be driving into brick walls because defenses will pack the lane and dare this team to shoot jumpers, which it's proven, it can't.
3. Scoring
While I don't think we can be a great offense team by the time the season is wrapped upped we can improve to at least average or slightly above that. It hurts badly having our two best (by a mile) offensive players out.
Dat's comments: Neither Wall or Nene are consistent threats from the outside. They help but their strengths only magnify our flaws. Wall & Nene aren't the problem, but the rest of the roster is. We may have arguably the least skilled roster in the entire NBA. Were depending on fringe guys like Webster, Martin & Price to provide that outside scoring. Wall & Nene aren't superstars (at least Wall is not one yet), they can't save this mess. This is not a good basketball team even if they were playing 40 minutes a night each.
4. Wins
The giant elephant in the room. Boy would spirits be much better had we pulled out 2 or 3 of the close ones. We'd all be saying "Being 3-6 with Wall and Nene ain't bad at all," unfortunately we know this hasn't been the case.
Dat's comments: We'll eventually get some wins if everyone gets healthy. Maybe we'll even be good enough to not be one of the worst teams in the league. Maybe that should be the new slogan.
5. Digging ourselves a big hole
This is self-explanatory and has crippled us, playing ketchup all game long is usually going to lead to misery
Dat's comments: We dig ourselves a hole because of the lack of talent. I don't think ketchup helps unless were waxing the basketball floor with it to even the playing field a bit.![]()
Bad teams find a way to lose in the end. That's why were 0-9, not 3-6. We don't have the talent or skill to close games. It's cliche, but we are what our record says we are.

The Wizards team TS% is 47.3%, a full percent behind the 2nd to worst team.

Ask him for an hour and at a bare minimum you can demonstrate players they should pursue based upon the team's deficiencies.

Give it a shot, I've known guys to get million dollar deals via a ballsy email and one meeting.

And this is the kind of fact that our few pie-in-the-sky posters here will respond to by saying
"see, we're really close. If we could up our FG% by only 2-3 % -- so little! how hard would that be? -- why we'd be contending for the playoffs."
