How they play after this win is key. Big deal, we beat the Heat. We have two wins. That Heat team is coasting. They did the same thing against the Spurs and were lucky to get the win w/o Duncan, Parker, Green, Ginobili, Leonard and Jax. They deserved the loss but they can afford a few lemons.

80s, they didn't coast IMO.

--James had 23 points, 13 rebounds, 11 assists, 3 steals, and 2 blocks. He played 43 minutes and took 24 shots. That was his best effort IMO.

--Bosh played 36 minutes and had 24 points, 12 rebounds, 4 assists with only 1 turnover.

--Wade had 24 points on decent shooting. Both Miller and Ray Allen had double figures. Rashard played against his old team 14 minutes starting for Battier.

Miami played their best tonight. Without Chalmers and Battier, and with Haslem being a shell of what he once was, the Wizards beat them inside all night. Quick guards penetrated early. Seraphin went to work inside. Ariza, Singleton, and Webster played with great energy. Price had a very strong game. Livingston was solid.

NO, THIS IS THREE STRAIGHT AGAINST THE HEAT. THIS IS NO FLUKE. THIS IS A GOOD MATCHUP FOR WASHINGTON.

(FOUR STRAIGHT IF THEY COUNT PRESEASON).

I'm all in, 80s. :)

So Singleton finally gets the start at the PF, and Ariza is likely going to be out for a while finally giving us the lineup I was looking to see.

Price
Beal
Webster
Singleton
Nene

Hilarious on some level considering EGs Okariza move...

They coasted defensively CCJ. I'm not in after one win. They just got destroyed by the Knicks. We'll see what happens after this. I will agree that this is a pretty good matchup for us.

Much closer to the minutes distribution that we need from this roster.

Price played great and Randy didn't over play his hand.
Same with Beal.

He went vet to win it except for Singleton and Kevin. Which is exactly what I was asking for him to do.

The difference: Wittman started Singleton. Webster closed with Nene and Seraphin. With Price hitting shots and Crawford getting inside first, I think these guys will be way better. Seraphin is about to start beasting. Crawford is playing way, way, way better. Six assists and extremely efficient shooting is scary from him.

I'm in expecting to stay in 80s. :)

+1. I am really glad we beat the Heat, but you could tell the Heat were coasting. They also missed A LOT of wide open threes. I'll take the win but I wouldn't read too much into it. There are plenty of examples of bad teams beating elite teams.

Really, truly happy for the players on this team -- they work hard and give their all every game. They obviously did their homework in preparation for this game, too. Major props to them - they deserve it.

But at the same time, this kind of win gives Ted and EG more ammo to continue down the same, failed course we've been on the last few years. This is the kind of game they'll point to when someone says we don't have the talent to one day compete at the next level. "Well, they beat the 12-3 Heat with a gimpy Nene and Wall out - patience, my friend!"

So yeah, torn.

Me too.

One game is certainly not a trend. Two wins in three games could be. Okafor on the bench and Seraphin coming up big could be a welcome trend. Webster is going to play a lot more, and so is Singleton.

We shall see if this was a mirage.

But those are in deed the facts. They did do that. And they are no way as good as they will be as player develop and learn each other. Kevin is just getting started. He can be much better. Nene isn't healthy. Beal is 19. They don't use Webster near enough. Livingston is still new to the team. They don't have Wall. And Randy has coached like ass most the year.

Maybe... Just maybe.. some of you have complained to much and ignored the obvious factors involved with their slow start. Maybe.

Which is why it's important to consider performance over a large sample and to interpret any single game with trepidation. There are considerable extenuating circumstances that have prevented the team from performing as it is capable this year. It's difficult to make the case that the team is either any good or likely to make really dramatic improvements from within.

Cool win though, good game generally from the entire roster, possibly a foundation game, possibly an outlier. It's easier to make up (and I do mean make up, as in without support) a narrative to explain things after they've already happened.

Jordan Crawford is getting better while everyone around him is simultaneously getting worse. This has to be pretty tremendous for his self-confidence.

I enjoyed this game tremendously. Everyone played above their usual levels. We won. We beat a team it's especially fun to beat. All good.

As to "Maybe...etc. and all that everyone will be better and so forth" -- sorry, maybe not. We won tonight. We got beat by 20+ the other night. It's December. We have 2 wins.

Our terrible team played terrific tonight and won. Lets enjoy it. Stop just a little short of beating our chests, all the same, don't you think?

Great...I'm sure Ted will be patting his own back in his blog for the next few days...until they get blown out by the Hawks on Friday.

This is how Ted feels tonight:

Relax already. That was just in fun to poke at the doubting Thomas haters.

I do think if Randy line them up better like he did tonight and they are healthy, they will be a lot better. He did a lot different tonight. Hopefully he learn from that. But digging out of this whole would be a amazing. Is it possible. Sure. Is it probable. No. But I am a fan so I root for the impossible as long as it is possible.

But it is still yearly in the season. One game at a time. 2-13 is a crappy way to start a year. But they have played most game closely. They have 3 TOs. And they have been missing there best two players. And. And. And.

Lets see what this fast break offense Randy installed does along with his better handle on the roster ( fingers crossed ) and some better health ( two fingers crossed ) leads too.

To me, this season was mostly about getting by until they have Wall and Nene got healthy. That is when we can all finally judge better what they actually have and where they can go.

Random thoughts:

Seraphin is nice. Has such a silky smooth touch around the basket.
Webster - Awesome pickup, I hope he's locked up for a few years
JC - What's up with the circus shots...but he was nice, until the end.
Beal - No cross over moves and is slow. Reminds me of that fat kid playing basketball jumping up and down asking for the ball that will never come his way.

The Heat are loaded. I was talking with my friend going down the list of people to take the three:
James, Miller, Allen, Wade, Bosch...geez they are going to be hard to beat.

I was so impressed with the Wizards passing. I don't think Miami took the game seriously AND I can't believe three unbelievable shooters missed wide open threes. James was laughing toward the end because they kept on missing threes. The Wizards almost choked. JC didn't want to take the big shot during the last 24 sec violation possession.

We all know the real reason why the Wiz won.....RGIII BABY!!!!

The crowd was great, standing for the last 3 minutes.
What pisses me off the most is that we'll get a smug tedstake tomorrow about how EG and Ted are staying the course.

Maybe I imagined this, but didn't someone here say that Beal's siblings are overweight?

The Jan DNP's continue to help the team I assume.

Return to Washington Wizards
