Interesting idea on the trade board:

Suns trade Gortat for Hibbert

Wolves trade Williams, Pekovic, Barea for Gortat, Augustin(EC), Pendegraph(EC)

Pacers trade Hibbert, Augustin, Pendegraph for Williams, Pekovic, Barea

Suns trade an unhappy center for a younger center who fits their rebuilding better.
Wolves get a center who fits better next to Love defensively. they give up alot of value but the financial situation is much healthier after the trade.
Pacers get to move an underperforming Hibbert and his contract. They get a young prospect who can become their long term PF. Pekovic is a better low post scorer than Hibbert and is most likely going to be a cheaper contract than Roy's. Barea is also a nice fit.

At this point, i'd do it.

Thoughts on Gortat and either Beasley or Frye for Al Jefferson?

From a basketball standpoint, I think it makes more sense for Utah than us - Jeff and Millsap both expire at the end of the season and while it's clear that Favors and Kanter are the future, they will need a tandem that will both be able to temporarily start until those two are ready, but potentially move to the bench over the next couple of years (not getting paid 10+mill to do so either).

To retain both Jeff and Millsap, theyll have to commit long term money of around $20-25mill per which may inhibit the ability to resign their young guys. All guys mentioned from PHX meet the criteria of short term starters/ good quality reserves on about $6m per.

Example - doing Gortat and Frye for Jefferson - Jazz this year:

Millsap, Favors (Frye injured)
Gortat, Kanter

Next year:

Favors, Frye
Gortat, Kanter

You could replace Frye with Beasley (I'd probably push for this) to give them additional depth this year behind Marv Williams at SF, and have him move to his preferred PF next season.

For PHX, they get a legitimate interior scorer and while his D isn't stellar, he's no worse than Beasley and and at least can rebound the basketball. He provides a short term answer at the C spot and allows us to ditch around $13m of salary next year.

Seeing as they think Kantor and Favors are the future I dont see why they'd have an interest in Gortat. You could argue that they already have 4 big men better than him, and I doubt they want to pay him 8 mil a year to come off the bench.

And Beasley and Frye both have negative trade value. I dont see why any team would take either them unless they Suns threw in a lot of other value (as in a 1st round pick or 2) to make it palatable.

This is not a knee-jerk reaction to the last couple of weeks. When Gortat is on, he is really on. However, too often he shrinks into his little Polish shell, and turns himself into a lesbian when it matters most.

he is not a good fit for our rebuilding team and he looks like he is done here. To Boston or whoever the hell wants him. We better get a good SG or other young talent in return. I wish our FO was as hardline as OKC's on the Harden situation.

Why for Phoenix
It is becomming clear to us Suns fans that the writing is on the wall for Gortat. He clearly wants out of this franchise, and is not willing to partake in our rebuild. Phoenix adds youth in Bismack to aid the rebuilding stage, and an expiring contract in Diop.

Why for Charlotte
Charlotte is desperate for some sort of scoring at the PF position. Derrick Williams can help in that area. Gortat also provides the team with decent defence and rebouding, as well as the ability to finish close to the rim. The core of Kemba, MKG, and Gortat is a great core to continue their build around, and will be a playoff team very very soon.

Why for Minnesota
Why not. It is obvious that Derrick Williams is not in the long term plans for this team, and there is no where in the rotation that he will fit. Henderson is probably the best value they can get for Derrick Williams. Henderson gives the T-Wolves great depth at their weak SG position.

Im actually not too hot on that trade. I used to be a big Biyombo fan, but he hasnt done squat in the league. He has been given every opportunity and the only thing that he has shown is that he cant play more than 25 minutes without fouling out. I would look elsewhere.

I am high on the Gortat for Avery Bradley/Sullinger trade pipe. I don't think Biyombo is very good at all.

On Dec 15 they can send Bass or Lee for free to a team which needs one of those guys and we can absorb an expiring.

This is the date where teams will be allowed to trade players they signed during the offseason (without bird-rights), for instance Courtney Lee.

As much as I love Gortat, it seems like he has quit or ran out of gas. Give me Lee, Sullinger and Bradley and you have a deal.

I would also require Fab Melo. Yeah, he's nothing special and is still very very raw, but he is a young 7 footer, and we will need someone to play C (Sullinger is a PF and i dont trust O'Neal to stay healthy).

BOS gets Gortat/Dudley

Boston finally gets a real C. They also add in a Celtic type bench player who is from the Boston area (Boston College) and has a big following there.

Wolves get 2 SG's. Currently, they only have 1 and his name is Malcolm Lee. They trade a player that they really dont need for two that they really need.

OKC gets Williams to back up Durant. He requires a lot less developing due to his time already spent in the league. Lamb is currently getting no minutes due to being stuck behind Sefalosha and Martin. PJ3 is a straight up SF, and gets little minutes behind Durant due to the fact that Durant plays sooooo many minutes. At least with Williams, he already has experience and can play both SF and PF. They also get a draft pick, which their FO loves.

We get a ton of young guys. Most are very raw and need minutes to develop. They can get that here. Bradley is already a good player (defender), but if 2 out of the other 4 work out and play good or even just decent, i would consider that a win, as we would be taking a big chance on young undeveloped guys.

Im wondering who would want both Gortat and Frye.

The Boston Insider said that we were pushing Frye as well, and they think they might have a deal unless another team is willing to take on Frye. One idea i came up with is.....

Philly gets Gortat/Frye/Dudley

Ok, now follow me on this. Bynum is an unknown at this point. We dont know where he stands (or if he can stand) with his current Knee situation. What we do know is what he can do when he is healthy, and he was a straight BEAST. Word is that he is getting his knee checked out in the next week or so and if its all good, he will be getting the green light to begin practicing again.

Philly has been doing a decent job with his absence, but Coach Collins patience is wearing thin (http://www.phillyburbs.com/sports/sixer ... 727ef.html), and he wants a C ASAP so they can stay in the playoff hunt. Currently they're Centers are Lavoy Allen and Kwame Freakin' Brown! Frye gives them yet another C as well as a PF. Dudley would battle Dorell Wright for Turner's old starting spot, and would more than likely improve his play by being with a more pure PG in Holiday.

We have our doctors check out Bynum and see what his deal is and if he will eventually be able to return to his old self. If things work out, we have a young beastly C. Now he is also a FA next year, so we would be able to give him the best deal, and since he would be working with our staff, we would know best if he's going to be a keeper or not. He's not getting a max deal, not from us or anybody else with all the time he has missed and with his situation being a bit of an unknown. But if a team does offer him a deal, our staff would know better than them weather he is worth it or not, so either we match, or we decide that he's not worth that much in the state he's in, and let the other team have him for a too high of price, then they are stuck with him.

But still, he would be $19M coming off the books (Gortat/Frye/Dudley) and we wou;d still be getting a good wing (Turner) and a young PF/C who we had our eye on in the draft (Moultrie).

If Bynum can return to his former glory, i think a team of Dragic/Shabazz/Turner/Morris/Bynum could be a young juggernaut of a team next year. If Bynum is too damaged and we dont match a deal by another team, well, Dragic/Tucker/Turner/Morris/Noel looks like a decent team to have as well.

I agree on Melo, another center prospect is always nice to have.

But there's absolutely no chance that OKC will give up Perry Jones and/or Jeremy Lamb. They don't need Williams, their PF rotation is set. Also, the 76ers will not trade Turner the way he's playing right now. If they really trade Bynum for Frye, Gortat and Dudley, it signals that there is something terribly wrong with him and I'd rather not simply dump Dudley and Gortat. I'd rather let our doctors check Bynum out in free agency. Can't imagine that the 76ers will pay him big money if he doesn't show up on the court this year.
