I take a look at that question in my blog.
Short answer: if he isn't The Best, he's damn close. Marino and Roethlisberger were arguably a little better passing the ball than Griffin. Add in the running, and I think Griffin pulls ahead.

A very intersting read as always. Griffin looks pretty incredible on those lists, my only worry is that it looks like Tim Couch should've done more damage but that can probably be chalked up to being drafted by a cursed city (Cleveland).

Or Tim Couch just wasn't that good.
Bickerstaff: who's up for kickball?!!
Ed Wood: Only if it's the no-pants variety.

Agreed but my point was given that he didn't seem that good it's impressive/confusing that he made a couple of top ten lists for rookie qbs going back 42 years.

Took another look at this question on Sunday.
To summarize: Yup.
Even if all you want to look at is passing, Griffin is the best rookie QB ever. Add in the running, and there's no question.

For all the talk about how Cam had a monster season last year, and it's still being talked about this season, seems like no one is saying that about RG 3 who surpassed Newton's rushing record last night. And on top of that, might surpase those passing records as well. Yet, not a peep from the media.

Re: Is RG3 the Best Rookie QB Ever?
Robert Griffin III of the Washington Redskins has won The Associated Press 2012 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award, beating out two other sensational first-year quarterbacks.
Griffin, whose thrill-a-minute combination of running and passing skills led Washington to its first NFC East title in 13 years, pulled away from Andrew Luck of the Colts and Russell Wilson of the Seahawks in a lopsided vote announced Saturday.
RG3 earned 29 votes from a nationwide panel of 50 media members who regularly cover the league. Luck was next with 11 and Wilson got 10.

Congrats, Robert!
