The team stinks on toast. WTF cares who they bring in, it's rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic. Adding another folding chair to the loge deck isn't going to make the fact that THE SHIP BE SINKING any less urgent.

I see what you did, there, GOG. :)

Mack was named NBDL performer of the week.

Emotional rant, in small font if you care to read it ...

If he gets called up by the right team, Shelvin Mack will play several seasons in the NBA. He is a very good defender, a winner, and a guy the Wizards were foolish to cut. There are many other better PGs, but few better competitors. The Wizards were better with Mack at PG a lot of times last season than with Wall. He may end up in Europe, because it is hard for a guy like him to get called up in the NBA. He is small for a SG and not a natural PG. That said, I've noticed that teams can win with guys like Mack in their lineup.

The longer Mack plays PG the better he will become at the position.

I was real upset the Wizards unfairly cut Mack for Pargo. it was really dumb to add two veterans at PG, and neither of them appreciably better than Shelvin Mack.

I fault Sam Cassell and Randy Wittman for releasing the wrong guy when they waived Mack.

I am NOT surprised how he's doing in the D-League, and I won't be surprised if a team like the Spurs calls him up some time this season. The Wizards need to remember there are two sides of the court. Shelvin is a very good defender at PG. MUCH better than John Wall.

I was and still am a Mack supporter.

The Wizarda are looking at the D-League for guys like Blake Ahearn and Ben Uzoh, when Shelvin was the Player of the Week.

The genesis of Shelvin being released occurred in the Vegas Summer League, when Sam Cassell said no one could run the offense. Forget the stats from all last season that said Mack was quite effective backing John Wall. The Wizards always think somebody else is better than their own young players. This team perpetually loses for a reason. Eventually, some NBA team will find yet another Wizard cast off to be a good role player.

Why make life so difficult? Send Vesely to the D-League and call Shelvin Mack back. Like Shelvin, Jan Vesely will perform well in the D-League.

(The Spurs waived James Anderson and they brought him back. Ernie might need to know there is a precedent)

If they don't want to bring back Mack, because it would admit a mistake, or if they are hopelessly biased against Shelvin, then bring back Mo Almond. It's not like the guy didn't practice and play with these guys and coaches already. At the very least he's a good dude.

Mack doesn't have NBA quickness CCJ, he ran things a beat too-slow. Perhaps now his overall PG skills have improved to the point where he can be a back-up. I'm gonna look at his NBDL highlights.

paraphrasing the old indian character in Josie Wales I'll just say I thought
this is how it would go down...CCJ calling for Mack to come back. Can't say
I disagree with him much.

The SA Spurs are an exemplary organization. Gregg Popovich is a tremendous coach. Here is one way the Spurs are much smarter than the Wizards:

They drafted James Anderson. His first two seasons were not successful. They did not renew his option year. The Hawks signed him and they released him in training camp. What did the Spurs do when Leonard and Jackson were injured? They resigned James Anderson!

Notice his FG% and PER the first two seasons with the Spurs vs this second chance. Look at Anderson's WS/48. When a good person who hasn't played well in games but you THINK he can play gets a second chance, this is the kind of thing that can happen.

You guys can laugh at me or doubt me but Morris Almond's first three seasons look statistically eerily similar to Roger Mason Jr's first three seasons. Almond is similar to Cartier Martin but not as athletic. I am convinced he can do the same thing as James Anderson if given a chance. His career NBA numbers are just as good as Anderson prior to this call up from SA.

I know there are better players. But sometimes good guys just need an opportunity. Mack is a good dude and so is Morris Almond. If EG had simply stuck with those guys and James Singleton instead of bringing in Ariza and Okafor the Wizards would be much, much, much better off.

Exactly.

But as someone posted, they are kind of short a PG defensive type now. Not sure were to rank that need though. If it was up to me, I would bring back Almond.

We need his NUTS to go along with Crawfords BIG BALLS

And by the way.. where is Othyus Jeffers. I loved that dudes game. Ahhh. Found him.
