ShawnBronald wrote:Regarding a possible Phoenix/Boston deal, this one works in the trade checker, but I'm not sure either team would take it:

Gortat, Dudley and Telfair

for

Bradley, Lee, Sullinger and Melo

Phoenix's lineup would look like:
Dragic / Bradley / Garrett or Marshall
Lee / Brown / Johnson
Beasley(???) / Tucker
Morris / Scola / Sullinger
O'Neal / Melo

I'm not sure where Beasley stands with the team, so I could see them maybe trying Brown or Tucker at SF with Beasley coming off the bench and the rest of the rotation changing accordingly. Also, with a trade like this, Scola would be on his way out for other assets eventually.

I'm not so knowledgeable on Boston and their rotation, but obviously Gortat would slide in at the 5 and I could see Dudley (who played at Boston College, mind you) playing SG or, most likely, backup SF behind Pierce. Telfair would be decent behind Rondo, as well.

The only way I see Boston even considering this is if they feel the addition of Gortat at center somehow helps them win a championship. Otherwise, why give up so many young assets? Also, it would be a good haul for Phoenix, all things considered, so that's another reason why I don't see it happening.

I think we trade more important assets than Boston.
Dudley out/Melo out.What about this?

Gortat and Telfair

for

Bradley, Lee( or Bass) and Sullinger

Detroit might still want Beasley. The effort they used in recruiting him was 2nd to us in free agency.

This trade also works, but I could see Boston really pulling for Dudley to be included. Otherwise, they give up a couple promising young guys for only Gortat (which they obviously need) and Telfair, who is a step down from Bradley if you ask most people. Dudley could probably step in and start at SG, but would be a great backup SF behind Pierce. I like Dudley, but he's definitely expendable (IMO).

(Quick note regarding Bass. I see a lot of people mention him in a potential PHX/BOS trade. I think that's mainly because of his contract. He's a PF and the Suns already have way too many PFs. If a trade is going to also include Sullinger, it'll be PF overload for us!)

I doubt it. They're probably relieved seeing what they lost out on.

Another tweet from Powell,

Shaun Powell ‏@Powell2daPeople

At game in Memphis, Luis Scola and Goran Dragic seen arguing briefly on court. Losing breeding frustration.

I've seen Dragic argue with just about everyone on the team and coaching staff. I think that's just his nature. Also, I've seen just about every other combination of players arguing as well. Not surprising on a losing team.

Joe Dumars is one of the few GM's that would probably trade for Beas

Marcin Gortat, another interview.

"In some games you score a lot of points, for example 22 against the Trail Blazers and 18 against the Knicks, but you also have games like the one in Staples Center against the Clippers. Why?

Gortat: It’s mostly because various players play different roles and have different playing time in every game. The team isn’t crystallized. It doesn’t have everyone knowing his role. Nobody’s really sure how many minutes he’ll spend on the court, whether he even gets a shot. We’re still at the point of finding our strong suits."

Keep whining, Marcin. Maybe we'd play you more if you weren't getting absolutely torched on defense and on the glass.

Just trade him. Good lord. There has to be a team or two we could fleece using Gortat as bait.

I'm thinking the best bet to move Beasley would be to a team that is dying to get Gortat. I just don't see any team willing to take on Beasley to get Gortat, however.

Unfortunately this is true. Gortat may be the best chance to move Beasley and that means we won't take back much talent in return. Also means that it will be harder to ditch Frye's contract, if we wanted to use a Gortat trade to get rid of his as well. Tough decisions.

I think Frye can still be useful when he comes back next year. Plus I'm pretty sure he wants to be here and never really complains.

Return to Phoenix Suns
