MIN/UTA/LAL/MIL - Megadeal reshaping teams for the better

Post#1 » by N.O.R.E. » Fri Dec 14, 2012 11:36 pm

Wolves Trade: K. Love, Pekovic, Ridnour, B.Roy's EC
Receive: Favors, P.Gasol, A. Burks, Duhon (partially guaranteed), better out of Jazz & GSW 1st

P.Gasol/Favors/Stiemsma
Favors/D-Will/Dante
AK/Budinger
Burks/Shved/M.Lee
Rubio/Barea/Duhon

The Wolves pull the trigger on this if Love continues making stupid comments publicly and creates tensions with Rubio and the rest of the team (he obviously already has with the fanbase, management and ownership). Gasol is a great fit for the next year and a half but the real prize here is obviously Favors. Burks hasn't been spectacular however with Shved being the future secondary ball handler and fixture at SG and back-up PG, there could be as many minutes there as he deserves. If Burks pans out they would have a very nice back-court trio.
This gives the Wolves a cornerstone piece in Favors who could potentially anchor the defense for the next 10 years. Love and Pek's scoring can easily be replaced through the newly gained flexibility in 2014.

Jazz Trade: Favors, Millsap, Marvin Williams, Burks, Raja, better out of own & GSW 1st
Receive: K. Love, Monta Ellis, S. Blake

Jefferson/Kanter
Love/Jefferson
G.Hayward/Evans
Monta/Foye
Mo/Blake/Watson or Tinsley

The Jazz upgrade the PF position and get a star in Kevin Love. Monta gives them a go to scorer on the perimeter and would essentially replace the redundant Millsap's salary slot. This deal improves their shot at winning and maintains the flexibility to make significant follow up trades.

Lakers Trade: Gasol, Duhon, E. Clark, S. Blake
Receive: Millsap, Marvin Williams, Ridnour, Dalembert (EC), $100k TE :D

Dwight/Dalembert/J.Hill/Sacre
Millsap/J.Hill/Jamison
Artest/Marv
Kobe/Meeks
Nash/Ridnour

The Lakers get a much better team while improving salary flexibility.

Bucks Trade: Monta, Dalembert
Receive: Pekovic, B.Roy's EC, Raja (EC), E. Clark (EC)

Marquis Daniels would be cut to make this deal, and Gooden would be amnestied or tied down to the bench. Earl Clark would likely be cut immediately after the deal also.

Pek/Sanders/Udoh
Ilyasova/Henson/Udoh
Dunleavy/Luc/T. Harris
B.Roy(10ish)/D.Lamb(20ish)/Raja(10ish)
Jennings/Udrih

The Bucks solidify the front-court while getting two stopgap SGs that could be good fits with Jennings in very limited minutes.

I don't think Minnesota turns a Love/Pekovic frontcourt into a Gasol/Favors backcourt for just Alec Burks and a mid first rd pick.

Amen. And are we so sure that Millsap doesn't have better value than Gasol?

Milwaukee is getting too good of a deal here and I believe the Lakers are as well.

This is an absolute steal for us but don't think Pek is really a fit for us. He can't play Pf so he'll be taking most of Sanders minutes. It's needed up if we resign him too. What message would that send to Sanders?

I'd rather have Millsap then Pau. The only Gasol I want in Minny is Marc.

I'm not sure why people think that Pau, with very old knees and a fading game, making $20 million, has much value. The man makes 33% of cap, that's absurd unless it's Durant or Lebron.

No offense intended, but, this is the exact opposite of how I'd build a basketball team.
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."
