"No No No, Don't Shoot" - The Byron Mullens Thread

A serviceable big man is more valuable than a average SG in the NBA. 'Cats fans are going to be very disappointed when Hendo returns and they realize that his defense isn't quite on par with JT's and his limited shooting range keep MKG out of the lane, causing a more stagnant halfcourt offense.

Funny this, he comes back and shoots over 50% from three and leads us in scoring. Heh.

Henderson is worthy of 6th man status on a really good team, and starter status on an average team. Hill has never gotten more than 16 mpg.

First of all, Hendo is not leading the 'Cats in scoring. He only led the team in scoring in 1 of his 4 games back.

That's all I meant.

With that said, I will be the first to say that Hendo is kind of proving me wrong with his improvements so far since his comeback, mainly from 3-point land. Yet, I want to see a bigger sample size before I eat crow. It's not like the team has been more competitive with his return either, so I'll reserve any further opinions. I hope Hendo can keep it up

I'm not one to push crow on anyone, I'm just saying it's funny. It's like Hendo finally realized his faults and tried to flip the script entirely with better shooting and worse defense (by my eyes anyway).

Hendo is to inconsistent. He has 25 one night then nine the next. I believe that he we will resign him reasonably, but I really want to trade him in a package that gets us a strong young big man, another top twenty pick, or both.

Got my first look at Mullens tonight. Man was he useless on the defensive end. He reminds me of a young Troy Murphy.

I'm done with Mullens. He's as expendable. I wish I could photoshop and make the cover of that "Expendables" movie with Mullens face over Sylvester Stallone's.

Mullens is freak.... he is big and he is very athletic

he can run the floor well and finish around the basket well

problem is, his bball IQ id terrible and he plays more like a SF than a C

he'll hang out around the perimeter (which he has a solid jumper), but wont get down and dirty in the paint

good gamble for a 2nd round pick.... he's still a 7 footer with good athletic ability... but he needs to get tougher and play in the paint

My intuition is this is not some little turned ankle for Byron Mullens. Looks like a severe sprain that could take weeks to heal.

Hope Mully is okay and not out for long. I know he's kind of the whipping boy on this board for his ability to shoot us out of games but we're gonna severely miss his rebounding and even his man defense is much better than last year.

I don't even care that much about his shooting. His atrocious defense and bipolar tendencies on the boards are the problem.

That game against the Lakers will probably remain the best game of his life and he shot like crap.

His defense isn't that bad. His man to man defense is competent with flashes of being pretty good. It's his help/zone defense that's abysmal and unfortunately that's what he ends up playing the most b/c he has to run out at perimeter shooters all the time in Dunlap's defense.

His man defense is equally atrocious. I can't even count the number of times he's let a complete scrub style on him in the post.

He's a decent shot blocker - but in the zone he's never reacting fast enough or correctly. He makes the team worse in every area other than rebounding. We need him for the tank, but other than that he has no value.

He guarded Carl Landry really well in the post recently, and he's no scrub. *shrug*

He doesn't handle face up guys very well but he holds his own in the paint usually.
