Cousins
Noel
Beal
Bledsoe
Wall

Arenas accepts Wizards’ offer of $60M+
by Tucson Citizen on Jul. 22, 2003, under Sports
OAKLAND, Calif. – Coveted Golden State Warriors point guard Gilbert Arenas has signed an offer sheet to play for the Washington Wizards, according to reports.
The former University of Arizona player opted for a $60 million-plus offer from the Wizards, the San Francisco Chronicle reported in today’s editions, citing the player’s father.
“I don’t know if the story’s hit yet, but he made his choice to Washington,” Gilbert Arenas Sr. said last night from his home in Los Angeles County.
Dan Fegan, Arenas’ agent, told ESPN.com: “He has signed the (Wizards’) offer sheet.”

But, I'd trade anyone on the Wizards roster except Beal, a 1st round pick and Wall to get him. Why not? No one on the roster is a long-term asset at this point. Effectively, the Wizards would be trading nothing for the possibility of something. Once here, I'd try to modify Cousins' game to something more like what Chandler does. No reason for him to shoot so much and commit so many turnovers. The rest of his game would be an asset if he could improve his efficiency or at least cut down on the wasted possessions.

There's no way you're getting Cousins without giving up this years' number one. Period.
Mr. Grundle wrote:I'm with CCJ on this one. I don't give up Seraphin for Cousins. Cousins is a better passer and will always be a better rebounder, but Seraphin will be the better overall offensive player. Kevin is one of the few young players we have who continues to improve. This hook shot will soon be an unstoppable move and he's developing a nice little mid range jumper. I think he'll only get better and will eventually learn how to draw contact and get to the line.
Cousins is exactly the same player he was in college. A hothead who gets what he gets due to brute size and strength. He has no touch and little skill offensively. And if you think being on the same team with John Wall is suddenly going to calm his psyche then you are the crazy one.
Taking a chance on Cousins for Okafor or Vesely is a different story. I'd even do Nene before Seraphin. I really think Seraphin is being undervalued. He's a young big that can score and continues to improve, he's just forcing the issue a little more than he should be now due to us not having any other options.

Well, in fairness, we took Mike Pence off their hands. Taking back Mahinmi is the least they can do.

As a rookie, Cousins attempted 4.6 long 2s (16-23 feet) per 40 minutes. He shot 37%. That's bad. In fact, his percentages from anywhere but at-rim were terrible, and even his at-rim numbers weren't terribly impressive for a guy of his size. But, the point is -- he should have been told at that point to stop shooting so many long jumpers.
Season two: 5.0 long 2s per 40 minutes at 40%. Still not good enough. Definitely at that point should have been told to stop shooting so many long jumpers.
This season: 5.9 long 2s per 40 minutes at 30%. His minutes have remained steady.
Like I said above -- probably fool's gold, but the Wizards don't have anyone as promising. Trade anyone except Beal, a 1st round pick and/or Wall to get him.
