Probst wrote:Considering a trip to the US late next year and seeing a Bobcats game is a must. I'm tossing up whether to catch a road game in one if the bigger cities and planning around that once the schedule is released or to actually stay in Charlotte for a few days and see a home game.

So could anyone give me an idea of what sort of city Charlotte is, what is there is to see/do etc. Is the TWC Arena easily accessible by public transport?

Thanks in advance

the arena - TWC arena is right in the middle of "uptown" what we call downtown area. if coming to charlotte to see a game i would suggest finding a hotel uptown near the arena and simply walking to a game. uptown area is only about 10 blocks by 10 blocks so you can pretty much walk from one side to the other in 15 minutes max. there are tons of places to eat, drink and hang out in that area.

the city - charlotte is mid-sized city (in between the size of gold-coast and adelaide for reference), typical new south, lots of new growth, lots of transients from other parts of the country. in terms of town layout, charlotte is a little bland. one of the few large east coast towns not located on a port/ocean/river (atlanta being one of the others). the town mainly sprung up due to two factors - gold and railroads. lots of gold found in and around charlotte led to mini gold rush here and a mint that produced gold coins, one of the reason charlotte is the 3rd largest banking city in US.

what to do - meh, not a ton, compared to most large cities. the nascar hall of fame is located near the arena if you are in to that kind of thing (charlotte is pretty much home of nascar). a few museums are uptown. some historical locations to visist, in the summer you have carowinds (an amusement park), two large lakes about 20 minutes away in opposite directions, plenty of nice golf course (especially if you drive 90 minutes east of charlotte to pinehurst. mountains are two hour away to the west, beach is three hours away to the east.

food - i am biased, but i think southern us food is the best in the world. nc style bbq, mac an cheese, fried chicken, greens, cornbread, banana pudding, grits, country ham, fried pork chops, peach cobbler, deviled eggs. mmmmmmmmmmm good.

let me know if you have any other questions.

I don't go uptown much (pretty much only go there for Bobcats games, my mom's work, the occasional hanging out with friends at a restaurant, and last week's jury duty which essentially lasted all week), but there are really good restaurants everywhere you go. Honestly, pick whatever you like, it's probably really good. I've never had bad food uptown.

I won my fantasy league but it was a nightmare I was up 39 points going up against marshawn beast mode lynch. He got two tds early and I wasted the rest of the night pacing up and down the house like a crazy man. Long story short I may never sleep again but Carolina sex panther is the best name ever.

that was an exciting finish to our fantasy matchup Fat's. 2 more offensive rebounds I would have had ya.

If only I didn't bench Sanders for his career night.

Thanks for all the responses guys

What's the best way to get tickets to a game? I hear good things about StubHub as it apparently allows you to download and print your ticket straight away which would be handy.

I won too, a cool 250 bucks. I would post my team but everyone would deem it unfair and ask what the hell happened. O hell I'll post it anyway.

http://games.espn.go.com/ffl/boxscorequ ... sion=quick

Basically I drafted Calvin Johnson 5th and Adrian Peterson 15th, since everyone was leary about his ACL. I took the chance of AP over Cam Newton who was till there. Then I drafted Matt Ryan, Trent Richardson, and Miles Austin with my next three picks. Early in the season these 3 were doing very well I so I traded those 3 for Peyton Manning, Arian Foster and Dez Bryant, all of whom were worse than my 3 (Peyton wasn't doing anything, Dez was (Please Use More Appropriate Word), Arian was good but the guy who had him had Frank Gore and CJ Spiller).

Long story short I ended the season with the #1 and #2 RB, and #1 and #2 WR. Awesome.

When I visited LA, we got tickets to a Lakers game by contacting their office directly via email.

wow, thats a kick ass team.

i won my 6 year old dynasty league w/ IDP (in 5 leagues total - two redraft, two dynasty, one keeper). my core of tom brady, frank gore, steve smith, antonio gates, juilius peppers and patrick willis have been together for 6 years (3 trips to superbowl, w/ two victories), in the 2nd year i added hakeem nicks, jamal charles and traded for vincent jackson. and thats basically been my team for the past 5 years. not sure how many years those guys have left, but i refuse to break them up until i stop winning. i'll ride them one year too long and then start over from the bottom.

I'm getting totally screwed over in my two fantasy basketball leagues this year by injuries and other stuff:

Take a look at this list:
Eric Gordon (on both teams) - hurt all season so far
Michael Beasley - apparently an epic cancer who can't play more than 10 minutes a night
Kaman - has been hurt
Amare - hurt
Marion - hurt
Nash - hurt
Mullens - just got hurt
Blopez - was hurt for a while
Cousins - suspended
Humphries (on both teams) - in Avery Johnson's doghouse
Elton Brand - was hurt for a while
Al Harrington - hurt
Devin Harris - hurt
Kawhi Leonard - hurt
Brandon Rush - out for the season
Austin Rivers - complete garbage
Ben Gordon - 75% garbage
Emeka Okafor - hurt and garbage
Rodney Stuckey - started off the season in an epic slump

Wow.

I got really lucky with the trade and drafting AP in the 2nd round, all Fantasy Football is is hitting with draft picks right away and buying low and selling high. Peyton had a miserable start to the season and Matt Ryan was on fire, which is what enticed that guy in the trade. He already had Gore, Spiller, and Sproles so I was able to pry Arian off of him. Dez literally did nothing at all until the last half of the season where he was insane.

On another note. Bismack Biyombo came into my restaurant today, in Blowing Rock, which is 2 hours north of Charlotte, a rural town....on Christmas Eve. I was floored. I cooked his lunch and then got a picture and an autograph. First Bobcats player to come into my restaurant, where I watch all the games since we have Direct TV. Great early christmas present.
