A western conference team is winning it this year. All the eastern teams are just being put to shame right now.

Yeah, but the stats show Miami is weak at defending the 3, so it makes sense to bite the bullet on the transition points those shots create. Miami is NOT weak at bottling up aggressive dribble penetration, on the other hand. Even though they're small, Lebron, Wade, and Bosh can all contest at the rim, and Battier might be the best in the league at drawing charges.

Miami is clearly just coasting. They have the same team that was basically unbeatable when healthy in last year's playoffs. They're definitely the favorite.

really short sighted statement here...not to say that they will, but the top West teams haven't been hit by the injury bug at all yet, specifically to their starters/6th men and especially when it comes to their best players. OKC, Memphis and the Clippers starters and 6th men have missed a combined 9 games this year...compare that to the Knicks who have missed a combined 14 games from just Melo and Felton...not to mention Shumpert has yet to play a single game or that Amare has logged 5 games this year...or compare it to the Bulls and Pacers who have missed Rose and Granger all year...

We've yet to see the best of what the top Eastern teams have to offer.

I don't think the Knicks will be fully healthy ever. As much as I want them to win it's hard seeing them being healthy enough to win. They haven't been fully healthy at all this year to even know what the team is going to look like. Pacers aren't championship contenders. I could see the Bulls being championship contenders because of how great their defense is. That's depending on Rose though. Even then, I don't know if they'll have enough fire power to win.

That's just what I think. Anything can happen though. Hope for the best.

hahaha Gay for Love AND Pekovic?

That deal doesn't make sense. Minny would be left with no front line. The best they can hope for it Gay for AK47.

Hoping Houston wins this one too, after Boston beating us and how our current game is looking...

Houston lost because of 12-29 FT shooting. Unbelievable

David Lee having another ~20/10/3 .50% fg year.

Oh how much damage he could do if he was still with us. Too bad Melo wouldn't want to play with him (let alone come here) though. :(

It's sad to see how much Amar'e has fallen off due to injuries, while watching Lee finally putting up meaningful stats for a winning team. Bleh.

I won't dispute that (because you're correct.)

But I saw it from another angle with a caveat: He saw the Heat trio in 2010 go all in one year before his contract was up, and then he came here with dreams of CP3 and Amar'e in the big city. Lee back then was vilified as a doorman - which was my thought as well and clearly not a superstar. There is nothing wrong with that kind of thinking, because the fan base was starving for a big name but I don't think Melo was attracted here because of our roster, which was in an awkward-kinda retooling phase. It was all about re uping his contract to max status right before the eventual lockout and playing with another established superstar. Amar'e that year was routinely dropping 30+ during the month of Dec if I recall correctly when Melo was still in Denver.

It just pains me that we let him go for basically AR and two injury prone players. This is same reason why I was so pissed on how we handled the transaction of That-PG-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named.

I was browsing through an old thread from right around the time we signed Amar'e and it was funny seeing how livid Knicks742 was when we signed Amar'e and traded Lee...

Me personally.. prior to the 2010 off-season I wanted Boozer.. I was one of the few.. but basically because Boozer was a better rebounder, a smarter player and played with his back to the basket a little better.. and of course the injury history of Amar'e... My next preference was Lee but not at Max salary. But when we signed Stat I supported him and at least we had something to be excited about. But both of these moves were contingent on signing Lebron... If I had struck out on Lebron I would've just waited and made getting my franchise player priority number 1.. which would've been CP3.

Just one move here or there changes the course of a franchise. If you also remember the year we drafted Gallinari Walsh really wanted to draft Russell Westbrook... if that happened I think there is no way he trades Westbrook and it maybe holds off some pressure from Dolan... then the following year Walsh again gets stymied because he wants Curry or Rubio and instead we end up with Hill.

Just one move here or one move there and everything turns out differently.
