and how would you feel about it?

You guys potentially have the assets to trade for him (at this point it seems like MEM may be willing to part with him for expiring contracts and picks/ maybe a young player, being that their main goal is to get under the luxury tax).

Gay has a lot of flaws, but he's the type of guy who could undergo a Mayo-like resurgence under Carlisle and with guys like Dirk, Marion, etc. surrounding him. I think it'd be interesting at the very least, though of course he brings a hefty price tag.

Depending what the Mavs have to give up for him I think hes a good step in the right direction as far as buiilding a good young team. He's an Allstar but not a Superstar, He can hit big shots but wont come up with big stops defensively. I'd put him and Danny Granger in the same boat but i dnt think he's hit his ceiling.

Gay needs a change of scene, but I dont know how he fits here, and how we are going to mix him with Mayo if they couldnt figure it out in Memphis...

Also if this happen, Marion would be gone, and he's a great guy to have around...

I just don't think Gay is what Dallas needs to win. Dallas already has a really good SF duo with Marion and Carter. The only advantage Gay has over those two guys is his younger age.
The two guys Memphis has that would make an immediate positive impact on this Mavs team would be Conley or Gasol which I assume are not on the market.

Mavs won't trade Nowitzki.

Memphis allegedly asked for Love from the Timberwolves.

Mavs have no one else on their team that can compare to Love.

If we really spent these two years getting cap space to use it all on Rudy Gay I would be upset.

If Marion goes out, it really isnt that bad from a cap standpoint because we essentially have no one on the books after next season. Im not a huge fan of Gay but if we could get him without having any trade assets other than expirings I think the value alone interests me because his contract isnt a killer for us.

Gay for 20 mil a season? Hell no. I wouldn't even do that deal for a salary dump. Memphis is asking for players in return as well. They be crazy

The Wolves wouldnt give Love for Gay if he had 2 broken hands.

Love is arguably the best PF in the game right now.

Its not about Gay;s talent, its about the money he is owed the next few years, do we want to commit to that?

I don't want to be Memphis' toilet to dump all the unwanted players off on us. Besides he is the same player as Mayo. Un-polished talent with many flaws.

No thanks!

Yep. It may eventually come down to something just slightly better but I really don't want Gay's contract here.

Nope. He was a very average looking player to me. Not a player worthy of a huge contract. His play made me appreciate The Matrix even more.
