Stephen Curry 15 years from now

Post#1 » by nickforthreee » Tue Jan 22, 2013 8:38 pm

There to me have only been 2 guys that you could consider for greatest shooter ever and those would be Ray Allen and Reggie Miller. They in my opinion are head and shoulders above everybody else when you factor in shooting, coming off screens, moving without the ball, clutch factor etc.... but man Stephen curry i feel like in 15 years he could be in the conversation with those guys as one of the best ever to shoot it. I could watch him shoot it all day, in fact i think he has the nicest looking stroke ever besides jesus shuttlesworth. So what do you guys think? Barring injuries can this guy make it into that conversation? I think he could pass reggie millers makes but depending on how much longer ray ray plays that record might be hard to beat.

Maybe, but as you said injuries seem frequent with him.

So no Larry Bird or Steve Nash in conversation for the greatest shooter?

Agreed. Those two need to be there.

Having said that, I agree with the premise of the idea. Curry is clearly rocking some super high percentages on high volume, and has done so since joining the league. There's merit to the thought.

For me GOAT shooter comes down to 2 players as of right now:

-Steve Nash
-Ray Allen

Between those two, I'd probably go with Steve Nash.

Curry will absolutely join those two if he can stay healthy.

Curry's 3PT #'s are pretty ridiculous.

His career AVERAGE 3PT% (44.7%) is higher than all but one of Ray Ray's seasons, and is higher than 13/17 Nash's seasons.

If you remove his health from the conversation (which is a MAJOR ? at this point), he's going to the HOF, and I've thought that since I saw him play Gonzaga in the tournament. Never seen a guy be such a phenomenal shooter off the catch, from deep, and be equally is lethal off the dribble, FROM DEEP.

Knicks fans laughed at me a couple years ago when I wanted to give anything of value to get him. If we had Stephen Curry instead of Raymond Felton with our current roster (major stretch), I personally believe we would be the favorites in the East.

F Don Nelson for screwing the Knicks over.

One thing Nellie knew how to do was draft. I was laughing when he fell to us, no chance he was getting past old Yeltsin-West.

As for Steph's future, either his ankles hold and he's a HOF and at least a top-3 shooter all-time or his ankles don't hold and he'll be a commentator.

I don't think Steph will be a commentator. He mumbles way too much. I can see Lee or Barnes doing that, however.

guys just to clarify to whoever was mentioning larry bird, steve nash, peja, and dirk to me they are all def top 10 shooters all time but what im saying is i couldnt make an argument for any of them to hold that #1 spot. ray and reggie right now are the only ones to me who could be considered the absolute best due to everything i said before, shooting a high volume on a high percentage, able to come off screens and move without the ball, able to be extremely clutch, and score 20+ points while doing it. able to be efficient and also having the ability to hit extremely difficult shots. and by no means do i think curry is better than any of them right now, im saying how good could he be.... im not sure he can pass those 2 guys but i think he could be a top 5 shooter of all time imo.

Just an amazing shooter. Not sure how his ankles hold up because it is clear who the team MVP of Golden State is.

What is really impressive is that a lot of his 3 pointers are off the dribble where he creates space then shoots. It's a low percentage shot but Curry hits them at a very high rate. There was a great article on hoopshype which showed this.
