OT:Rondo out for the remainder of the season with TORN ACL

Post#1 » by Jval17 » Sun Jan 27, 2013 6:39 pm

WOW huge news if it happens to be true after the MRI.
@MySportsLegion: Celtics fear that Rajon Rondo might have torn his ACL. (via NBC Sports' @DavidBaumann33)

@DavidBaumann33: Solid #NBA source tells me the Boston @Celtics are fearing a possible torn ACL for Rajon #Rondo. Results from MRI coming soon. Updates ASAP.

This could be big news for the Raps. If true, let the fight for 8th really begin.

On a mostly unrelated note, remember when, not long after last year's ECF, some posters had the audacity to suggest that Rondo was better than Chris Paul? That was good for a laugh.

That means we'll beat the Celts in our upcoming matchup.

Man, the East isn't much fun this year, is it?

As much as some posters might hate this, if true, raptors are legitimately in the playoff hunt. Boston will go south without rondo and things will be worse than now

This could be an opportunity to move Calderon possibly for a good pick this year. Let the Celtics have his for Sullinger and a pick.

You really think BC will give them Jose and help out a division rival?

We will lose 7 of 9 of these games, perhaps 8 of 9 making the Raptors 18-35/36.

Warriors
Hawks
Clippers
Heat
Celtics
Pacers
Hornets
Nuggets
Knicks

In order to make playoffs historically you can't be more than 2 or so games under .500. Also don't forget we've lost to the Cavs and Kings so there actually is very little probability we can make it because we must beat good/playoff teams to get into the hunt.

celtics arguably need playoffs more than the raptors - if they are desperate enough, who knows

from rotoworld:

Rondo apparently injured the knee Friday against the Hawks. He went through the walk-through with the Celtics Sunday but was scratched at the last minute. He was sent to the hospital to get an MRI and will be replaced in the starting lineup by Courtney Lee. Owners will want to get him out of their lineups immediately and we'll update you when we know more. Jan 27 - 12:57 PM

if he went through the walk-through today... I highly doubt he tore his ACL

Lowry for Fab Melo + Celtics First, Raptors tank for the remainder of the season praying to win the lottery and obtaining 2 first round picks. It's a weak draft but this team needs all the talent it can get.

And do you think Boston would give away a pick AND Sullinger for a 3 month rental of Calderon?
If you want to try to measure the elements of basketball that are supposedly unmeasurable, spend a game just watching Marc Gasol.

My sister has had a torn ACL for years (doctors didn't think it was worth operating cause she had enough stability) and she can walk, and even run, just fine.

Depends on whether it was a partial or complete tear. Either way, his knee would be the size of a cantaloupe.

This would be a huge loss for the Celtics. It's crazy to see talented point guards such as Rose and Rubio go down with this injury.

Time to trade for Rondo.
