There were a number of players I would have preferred we draft versus Biz. Again, DMutumbo and I wanted to use that pick in a trade down to get an extra pick, grab the big V and possibly Thompson. Klay would have been a super choice.
So I get most of you are sick of the idea of dealing MKG. Conversely, I suggest we quit chattering about impossible deals using weak players with low value as some magic bullet to get a quality big, cause that ain't happening. Sessions has good value now due to needs, but even he and a pick won't bring a player worthy of starting. Hendo is at best a good reserve player, so his value is low.
We may actually see fewer trades this year than in the past. Unless we can pry away Jason Thompson or JJ Hickson I think we stand pat and pray for the right lottery ball.
^ Well stated Bass.
Save for trading picks or one of our soon to be expirings like Diop for a bloated contract, the sad reality is that there are few players on our roster apart from Kemba/MKG (and to a much lesser degree Biz/Mully/sessions) which other teams would find desirable to send back any talent worth noting.
Even Henderson's value has tapered off as he's regressed and teams know they can just sign him outright for the right amount of $.
None of this is to say that a trade is necessarily the way to go. However, if we're going to seriously throw out trade proposals, its important we be realistic about what we'd have to send out to realize a worth while return.
As for Hickson, I believe he may be hitting Free Agency this off season. If we draft a wing, he'd definitely be someone to take a look at.
