Was this update on JJ posted already?

Amico, citing "sources," says trade talks involving Redick "have all but disappeared" in recent days because Redick "indicated he wants to stay with the Magic."

Wow, take a chance on Noel, a guy that most don't project as an impact player anyway? The guy blew his knee out, he could be the next Greg Oden, albeit with significantly less skill and ability.

Pass.

He by far has the most potential of anyone in the draft. Once he puts on size, he will be a defensive force in the NBA. No guarantees he ever gets a great offensive game but who knows. All we'd need him for is defense and put backs in that scenario.

And Greg Oden cause of an ACL tear? You must not be familiar with medicine and technology in 2013

I'm not understanding why people still think Lamb and Jones are promising. Those guys are not good.

Lamb is. Jones isn't currently but it's low risk, high reward.

JJ knows if he stays with the Magic he can be a key player and a fan favorite. Most teams cannot offer him either. Magic can also pay him market value. I'd say 3 years 22 mill would be a nice hometeam discount and 3 years 24 mill w/ 3pt incentives would probably be market value. He may be missing out on a ring here, but there is no "easy" way to win a chip (unless you sign with the Heat). Then again, this could just be a ploy to drive JJ's value higher. At the same time though JJ told the media himself that the Magic aren't trying to move him actively..

I remember when Ryan Anderson said he wanted to stay with the Magic.

I see the scenario repeating itself. Even if for nothing more than creating cap space for ourselves. Creating cap space is very valuable to us. It doesn't make sense to trade him if the value of his return doesn't out benefit the cap space relief.

I don't care if JJ wants to stay, he can't stay because we can't be adding long term salary to mediocre veterans even more than we already are.

I also thought JJ was going to be a 3/24 guy, and he may be, but when I looked around the league at guys in his position with similar talent, they're almost all making about 5.25 million. Not sure if that is his market value now post new CBA, if so, I wouldn't mind paying it.

I'd trade him even without a plan to replace him.

Sam Amico has put out some really flimsy reports in the past (Saying Howard to Brooklyn was a Done Deal), so he's not all that reliable..... more of a "throw **** against the wall and see if it sticks" reporter....

Even if we trade Afflalo, we'd have Jameer and JJ on long term deals. Don't forget BBD too, Hedo and Harrington probably can be rid of though. We're rebuilding, good smart rebuilding teams know you can't overrate/overpay mediocre vets while rebuilding. Keeping JJ long term accomplishes nothing but makes some fanboys happy to have him in town.

I love JJ, but he needs to move on and help a contending team and we need to move on and create a new future. His value is as high as it will be, get some picks/prospects from a contending team and move on. I kind of wish we could do the same with Jameer, but I doubt it.

because an 18 year old is the definition of a finished product

I never said he wouldnt improve and become a better player. I just dont think he is a top 5 draft pick and it looks like we will be picking in the top 5. I think McLemore or Noel are less risk AND higher reward. Noel would almost be a better pick after his injury. We could draft him, have him take the entire season off and have him work with a personal trainer so he can add some size and muscle and have him work with a good coach to try and develop his offense. Then we would be looking top 5 pick in 2014 and draft someone like Wiggins, Parker or Harrison who would join the team along side Noel.

if we are going to do it, lets do it right, trade JJ, AA, BBD, Meer and Hedo/AL, if we can trade them two

I would trade ^^ as well. Start anew. Bye JJ. Turk, bbd out. Start anew. If we have to keep a vet it would be Meer.

I agree with this... but it still doesnt make Smart a top 5 pick imo. If we cannot get McLemore or Noel i would like to trade down and draft someone like Burke.

Noel's the next tyrus thomas. His scouting report looks like Dwights, can't hit fts , no post game, no counter move. This league favors skilled wing players not unskilled bigs. Smart can run the offense as well, E'twaun Moore is a horrid comparison to smart..not even close.

14.4pts, 5.8reb, 4.5ast, 3.0stl, and 0.8blck is a solid stat line for Smart, of course he needs to improve his game, but he has an impact in every area, i can see why he is being discussed as a top 5 pick

Smart is an intriguing prospect. He has the potential to be an impact 2-way player.

But I can't help but think that Burke is getting slept on. This kid has all the potential to be a great offensive pg in this league. He will probably be drafted in the 7-12 range, which is a bit out of our range, but trading down (I would say trade for a pick in that range but, unlikely) may be the right move. I think this kid could become our Ty Lawson. May not sound great for the kind of year we're having but with the draft starting to look the way it does I think you take Burke and run (just because he fits a position of need and has a lot of offensive talent that translates well). This is all a moot point of course if we cannot get fair compensation for trading down.

why is Burke still projected in the 20 range? he plays well but goes nowhere or backwards, maybe he isn't that special, or they see his flaws? you'd think he would sky rocket to the top
