Then trade the guy who's leaving anyhow to get Smith's Bird-Rights... because I don't care how much the Bucks love Smith, he's getting a max deal somewhere and if he gets to pick, it won't be here. Not that I am disappointed about that. I don't have a hard-on for Smith but since my soul has been crushed slowly over many years from being a Bucks fan, I know how this team operates so we might as well trade one of our terrible guards for a guy who I think would have a more positive impact than Ellis ever could. So if we really want him and really want to keep him, I think we need Bird-Rights.
For the record, if Ellis played like a PG, I think he would be amazing. That means focusing on passing and taking smart shots. When he plays like that, he's honestly a very good player. Problem is, he plays like that MAYBE 5% of the time he's on court.
