Do we have the MLE available?Because we could desperately use someone like Kyle Korver---a SG that can get his shot off and is not a complete desaster on defense (like Novak).

Korver>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Novak

Korver can actually hold his own on defense and score in a variety of ways in contrast to Novak who becomes completely useless once you put a half decent defender on him.

Previous post suggested a homeless version of Korver. Not Korver himself who is making 5 million per and my guess is he will make similar for the next contract therefore unattainable.

I don't know whether we could get them, but here are some guys I'd try for mini-MLE:

Corey Brewer
Mozgov
Corey Maggette
Earl Clark
Tony Allen
Mike Dunleavy
Chase Budinger
Hedo

I've been a big fan of Maggette but he's basically done for...if not physically then mentally. Don't think he'd be a fit in that I dont' think he's got the mentality to change his game around to fit a role playing role. Would be like singing someone like Quentin Richardson last season.

Mozgov is kind of ho hummish and you have to assume that Camby will be the backup to Chandler so using the mini MLE on a projected 3rd string C probably isn't a good idea. 3rd string C's are jobs for guys like Ryan Hollins who can be had for the vet minimum. They would be better off with a PF that can rebound and play some defense, be a little physical, etc. to backup at the PF spot.

Turkeyglue's iffy. Really depends on where his head is at.

Dunleavy would probably be one of the one's on my list. He's always done well against the Knicks and done well in MSG. He shoots, he passes and he plays well enough all the way aound to deserve a rotation spot. He's also someone that can play a couple different positions and create some mismatches.

Corey Brewer will be interesting, he can score, he's atletic, he's young and he can add some energy...things the Knicks need...like with Dunleavy, being able to play multiple positions will help. But he works better in an uptempo offense where he can use his quickness and length more effectively. In a slower offense his slight frame creates less of an advantage.

Tony Allen? Would be somewhat redundant with Shumpert here but maybe.

Budinger could be real interesting. I think he's better off in a more uptempo system and he'll probably want to head west.

Some other guys that are projected to be free (in some capacity) that might be "hadable" for the mini-MLE include:

PG

Darren Collison (if Dallas doesn't pick up his QO...not sure if they did) - kinda cream puffish but he's a very quick point
Jarret Jack - tough, physical, smart combo backup guard
DJ Augustin - he's kinda flubbed at every spot in terms of starting PG goes, but maybe he'd work in NY in some capacity.
Eric Maynor (if his QO isn't picked up)
Danile Gibson - well he can shoot 3's
Jeryd Bayless - has a player option...not sure if he exercised it
Beno Udrih - might be a vet minimum type but in the right offense he could be quite serviceable

SG

Nick Young - IQ of a potato chip but he shoots, he's young and he can put up points
Rip Hamilton - not sure what his contract situation is but he's old so he qualifies
Anthony Morrow - another shooter that does little else but if motivated can be somewhat ok defensively, he's got good size and athleticism for a shooter.
Leandro Barbosa - Barbosa the pirate is a vet that has produced and can score, but he may be at the point where he can be had for the vet minimum.
Marco Belinelli - he's killed the Knicks and is only making $1.95 million this year...but the Bulls likely will resign him.

SF

Dorell Wright - he's making $4.1 million this year and his production has been somewhat spotty, so maybe right at the mini MLE level.
Dante Cunningham - Wolves have the team option so probably not going anywhere

PF

Lamar Odom - obviously the picture child for "must be in right spot"...but he's from NY (queens) and playing back home for his favorite team as a child might motivate him.
JJ Hickson - probably played himself into/past the full MLE range
Andray Blatche - well...hey...he's played real well this season. =)
James Jhonson - a bonehead but productive and fights, not suer if the Kings will offer him the QO.

C

Sam Dalembert - with Camby as backup to Chandler, probably not. But at this point in his career (and considering how he's doing this season) mini-MLE is about right.
Zaza Pachulia - maybe he deserves more, but not much, much more
Dejuan Blair - probably somewhere between vet minimum and mini-MLE?

My top choice for the MMLE would be Matt Barnes. Can play the 2 or 3, he defends, and he spaces the floor.

Some other names I haven't seen mentioned:

- CJ Watson
- Telfair
- DeMarre Carroll

Earl Clark is the ideal to start along Melo. He rebounds the ball, he defends, runs the floor and he can shoot a bit. I don't know Lakers' off-season plans taxwise, but I would invest the mini MLE on him.

I'm still holding out hope that Camby can play another year somewhat but if not we definitely need to address the frontcourt position. If nothing else then just to force Woodson's hand into playing bigger players.

We obviously need a shooter in the backcourt as well. I like Jarrett Jack the most but I think he is more in the 5-6mill. range.

What's our trade targets in the summer?

Here's some assets we have:

Raymond Felton (decent contract for an average player)
Iman Shumpert (Our best prospect, but I personally rather keep him)
Marcus Camby (Decent big at an expiring contract, considering 3rd yr is a team option)
James White (expiring)
Amar'e Stoudemire (rejuvenated former all-star big, 2 yrs left on contract)
Draft rights to whoever we draft in the 1st rd

I would also put Steve Novak just because of him being known around the league as a 3 pt assassin but his contract is what makes his trade value messed up, unless paired with someone like Shumpert I guess.

I say we go hard at good players that might be available due to bad fits, terms or chemistry with current team.

John Wall
Eric Gordon
Kevin Love

Can't think of anymore at the moment but point is, we need to get more dynamic out there.

I mean, it seems as if Wizard fans would be elated with just a pick and a decent player. At least on their board.
They're calling him a bust and everything.

Gordon is just gonna rot on the Hornets & doesn't want to be there. Plus he's always hurt, they won't get a ton for him & his contract.

Kevin Love. Yeah, maybe you're right about him as a target. He definitely don't want to be there though.
