Wall just needs his confidence back. That and lots of work. But this game was really good for him. Hopefully nothing's wrong with Beal.

I love the comment earlier in the game by Buck and Phil - apparently talking to another NBA executive who was comparing Turner with Wall to see which if the two draft picks is better so far, the executive said the difference is teams have to game plan for Wall and his speed; nobody gameplans for Turner. The same could be said of other mediocre PGs folks here have recently compared wall to. Nobody game plans for Jarret Jack either.

Wall has the potential to be great. Its an open question whether he gets there, but we should be a long way from giving up on the guy.

Nice win, John put in work to finish them off. Hopefully that gives him a major confidence boost, we'll need him to hit more shots with Beal out.

Nice to see Wall look like he is actually trying to play more in control.

I was at the game and feared the worst when Beal was carried off. Big relief to know it is an ankle sprain.

I don't understand why anyone would have to eat crow after ONE game. I thought Wall played much more in control this game and played better. However, he also had a really bad turnover with less than 2 minutes left. He also was out of control and got bailed out during that play when he drove the length of the court and drew a foul to put us up by one. Had the refs swallowed their whistle on that play (like they have done all season when John puts his head down and drives into a defender), the outcome could have been much different.

I'm really happy for John that he had the confidence to hit that last shot and made the two free throws on the line. I hope he builds on this because I really want him to succeed and prove his doubters wrong. However, I wouldn't say its time for his critics to eat crow until he plays well and hits open shots consistently.

BTW, I took my 6 year old to the game last night. Although I have taken him to games before, we always left at the end of the 3rd quarter because he was tired and bored. I convinced him to stay until the end last night since it was an earlier start. I have never seen him as excited as when Wall hit that last shot. He was screaming like crazy and jumping all over me. All he could talk about on the way home was how awesome John Wall is. I hope John becomes the star we need, because my son is now his biggest fan. I also have to thank John because that one play may have made my son a Wizards fan for life (well, I don't know if I should thank him or curse him on that point). Anyway, that was a great father moment for me last night.

Good stuff, dandridge. Can't have too many young Wizard fans-in-training. Nothing turns youngsters on like exciting endings where the crowd is going bonkers.

Have you told your son about the legend of Bobby D? Dandridge was one of my favs---great defender, team-first guy and could be depended on to stick the short jumper. He was a key piece to two NBA championships--Milwaukee and the Bullets. But you knew that already.

I think we all want Wall to succeed, we'd be crazy not to, it's just a matter of being realistic about the player that's out there.

I actually think John is pretty smart as far as basketball. Good court vision and passing. Good handle. The problem is that he at no point went against a superior athlete until he stepped foot in college, and you can't just unlearn what got you into the league--which was blowing past guys who couldn't stand in front of him.

So he's got to learn how to play half court basketball against similar talented athletes and far higher IQ players, and it's going to take time. It's just hard to swallow that fact when he could end up getting maxed in a couple of years.

Good to see Jimmy Wall step up in the clutch. I remember him being pretty clutch his rookie year, he's got ice water in his veins.

Need Beal to be healthy. The offense is just dreadful without him.

You are remembering a different John Wall than me. Wall missed most of his shots in the clutch in his rookie year (eFG% of just .362). He got to the free throw line a bit more (16.5 attempts per 48 clutch minutes) but didn't shoot particularly well from there either (71%). He also turned the ball over a lot.

It was fairly close throughout, but more often than not, we were in the lead,
not them.

They almost stole it from us. We won.
