Do you want us to go back and time and pick Beal or Drummond?

Wait, is that an option? Did Kris Humphries' entourage get that time machine working yet?

Dope.

Everything MKG is doing should be viewed through the prism of the Bobcats being by far the worst team in the NBA. He has no competition for his minutes (and is still not getting as many as he should), and even if he plays badly the coaches are clearly under orders to play him a certain number of minutes regardless. He looks like he could grow into a real nice role player, but right now I can see at least 4 guys who look like they'd have been better picks (and several maybes or to be determined). Anyone who says they wouldn't take Drummond or Lillard ahead of him at this point is frankly insane. Beal also has a great case, and while this is just my opinion I feel like Barnes or Waiters could easily end up as better players (though it's obviously too early to be sure). You just can't make mistakes like that.

Whoops, chalk another one up for the interwebz being an imperfect communication media. I was quoting Humphries' line in that commercial, not calling you a dope, sorry about the miscue.

I didn't say it was easy I said it was a rather arbitrary method of measuring a rookies level of play as opposed to their overall season performance

And none of the fun facts you mentioned weren't arbitrary?

Lets not pretend like if it was Beal or Drummond (or whoever) who had multiple 25/12 you'd be throwing that fun fact out like it mattered.

he played with a level of energy and aggressiveness that we havent seen in a few months. THAT kind of effort is what will make MKG a valuable player and worthy of a high pick. if he doesnt bring that intensity, then he is merely a role player, at least until he further develops the rest of his game.

If he was averaging 17 and 10 he'd be an all star. I think you should temper your expectations.

don't take everything so literally. i never said he needed to average 17/10. i said he needed to be playing at that level aka with that kind of aggressiveness and energy. obviously he's not going to average 17/10 in 28mpg on 72% shooting every game

he looked different than the guy who was afraid to attack Jimmer Fredette just the night before

Fats if anybody surprises me with their high expectations it is you. Did you actually expect Micheal to play like the number two pick in his first year? How could you of all people with your years watching players come and go honestly have thought that about a nineteen year old with no jumper?

No one can be aggressive 82 games in their rookie year. That is just another completely unrealistic expectation. These kids are athletes not machines.

i never expected MKG to be a scorer or to dominate his rookie season like lebron, durant and melo did. i dont ever expect him to be that kind of player, but i think we all agree about that. he isnt an alpha dog. he is a complimentary, do-it-all guy.

that being said, based off everything we read about his motor and aggressiveness and based on what he showed in the 1st month of the season, i definitely expected him to stay aggressive on both ends of the floor. i would rather he played his ass off and only played 15-20 minutes than to float around the perimeter, playing hot potato, passing up shots, shying away from favorable matchups while getting more minutes.

his best NBA skills right now are his defense, his rebounding, his motor and his aggressiveness. these are the skills that will make him a very valuable player while he slowly develops the rest of his game over the next few years. when he is playing passively, his current best NBA skills do not shine and therefor he really isnt that valuable on the floor.

which is why i dont usually agree with the calls for him to play 30+ minutes a game every night. there may be a nights here and there, like last night, when he is in a groove that he should have played more, but generally i am OK with dunlap keeping his minutes to around 15-25 per game this year. but when he is in the game, i want him to display that motor and aggressiveness that define him as a player.

in the heat of a game, i think we all get a little carried away wanting MKG to play big minutes. thats a natural reaction as a fan.

His issue is confidence. MKG just might be to humble for an nba player. Once his confidence and satmina are cemented I am sure that agressiveness will become a mainstay.
