He really is terrible trying to run a half-court set in crunch time. I mean really, really bad. We honestly might be better off with Price running the show down the stretch. Wall is a big time impact player on defense and on the fast break, but he might be the worst starting PG in the league at running the half court offense.

He has no feel for the game in the half court set, whatsoever. He just predetermines what he's going to do ahead of time.

If he wasn't such a great athlete in transition, his play would be unacceptable for an NBA point guard.

Yeah, I was about to mention Nene. Can't let him off the hook. He was even worse than Wall tonight. At least Wall hit some jumpers in the first half.

on Ariza's shot the clock wasn't that far down.

But I have no idea what Wall is thinking on the prev possession when he shot
the 3 (and missed badly). It's like he is trying to prove something instead of
just making a smart play. Shooting-wise a pretty good game by Wall but again
the TOs....guessing he had at least 4, probably 5-6.

I was actually feeling pretty confident for much of the game in spite of
the back and forth nature of the contest. Oh well.

You're right, Nene was horrible. Nene was a turnover machine. If he is hurting that bad he needs to sit out because we aren't playing for anything.

You're right, I just rewatched it. 11 seconds on the dot. Yet another case of absolutely NO concentration. That wasn't on Wall, although he didn't help. Ariza simply lobbed a brick for no real reason.

Wall, on his best shooting day in a while, still shot less than 50% from the field (7-15). He had 6 turnovers plus the botched play that led to the Ariza heave (I see now that Ariza had some more time, stupid play by him too).

Ricky Rubio, whose draft rights were traded away by EG for one year of Foye and Miller, is a better basketball player than John Wall.

Wall is very athletic but Ricky plays better and smarter basketball.

I put a lot of this on coaching. You gotta think Wittman realized his players were doing the equivalent of passing around a girlie magazine in terms of concentrating on the game. He should have taken a few more time outs to get in their grill to pay attention. They clearly were somewhere else, for like the last 7 minutes.
