if we fired Arsene he'd have a top job pretty quickly.

Anyway, good win today. Keeps the pressure on Spurs and Chelsea, one of harder games left on the sched, too. Good defensive performance again, didn't allow a shot on goal. Tbh, didn't think Gervinho was gonna score.

I have an account at A-M, but don't post there much, probably have less than 20 total. There's some funny stuff on there sometimes, though.

Yeah, great to see him playing well. Did a good job against Munich when he came on as well. Hopefully he can build on it, a good finish to the season will do him (and us) a world of good for next year, too.

Podolski is back fit for next game, should be a nice boost. Reading at home next, three more needed points. COYG

yeah we could use the podolski that exploded vs westham to end the season. But man we need theo walcott to step it up , he's been pretty bad since the contract extension , we need him to be as good as we pay him to end the season.

How likely Arsenal use the buy-back option for Vela? He has been having a fantastic season at Real Sociedad. Vela has scored 12 goals and has 8 or 9 assists currently. They are currently in a CL spot (4th in La Liga).

If I was Arsenal, I buy back Vela. Bench Giroud and move Poldolski at ST and Vela takes the wide left position. Both Cazorla & Vela can switch it up when appropriate.

If I was Vela, I wouldn't be too concerned about PT if his competition were Girvinho, Ox and Ramsey. Vela is better.

I doubt we buy back Vela, honestly. I like him as a player, but I don't think he's suited to the EPL. We tried him on the wing previously, but it never took. His crossing isn't good, his passing wasn't great, and he didn't track back. He's a striker, imo. He's got an eye for goal, can pick a run, and is a good finisher. Just not suited to the way we play. Vela would never work as a lone striker, and that's all we play now. Podolski can't play there either, imo, he's much better out left cutting inside. Giroud is more effective as a central striker than Podolski would be, I think.

Yeah, it would be great if Walcott would step it up. You can see now why Arsenal were so reluctant to give him the big contract, he disappears for long stretches, and is largely anonymous in games. Just can't make his presence felt and influence games consistently. As usual, Arsenal put faith in someone and get repaid with doo doo.

I guess it's up to Arsenal if they think Vela has improved in the areas that you say that's he's deficient. I've been watching Vela every week and he has really improved in every aspects of his game. Especially, his understanding of the game. No more foolish, ineffective moves. Every move he does has a purpose now. Vela as a striker is a good position for him but he excels as a right winger that likes to cut inside with his right and wrecks havoc there. But unfortunately, Walcott plays there. The only positions I see Vela can start is at either the left side, as a striker or he can switch with Cazorla at times for attacking mid.

You got a good point about Podolski. He's crap with his right foot but has a cannon on his left foot. You need a striker that can use either foot and is a good aerial threat i.e. Giroud.

Yeah, Girouds more two-footed and aerially he's a great target, his hold-up play, work-rate, and passing are all good as well. He's very... solid. He's not been nearly as clinical as he was in France, but that may come with a bit more time, as he gets more comfortable in England. Ideally I'd like someone less clunky, more dynamic, but he's doing a decent job.

I haven't seen Vela much at all this year, so I can't say at all if he's really improved. I'm sure Arsenal are scouting him, though. He's a player I've always liked, just not sure where he'd fit in the team. He would be a squad player, and he would probably prefer a first XI role in Spain.

Yeah, I remember reading about Arsenal had a scout watching Vela the other day. I mean, Vela is 3rd in assists, 7th in scoring in La Liga this year and has one of the highest % in goals contribution too. I would be scouting Vela too! haha

Wherever he goes (or stays at RS), it seems like his career is going in the right direction.

There were plenty of rumors in early January, but they faded to zero pretty quickly. Haven't heard anything about it since then.

Fair enough, just thought it was him when I first saw the post, he's usually got the random anti-Arsenal/Wenger stuff.

Tbh, I haven't made up my mind him (recent Wenger anyway) either.

Good to see Spurs drop some points already. Not too far away from them or Chelsea now, if we can keep getting results we've got a good shot.
