Shabazz was extremely unimpressive, and he's a liar. Not good for his stock at all.

Even if he did know, can we really crucify what was at the time probably some elementary or middle school kid who was likely coached by a parent to keep that lie? I couldn't but if we want him, hopefully some other NBA teams will XD

WE are looking for a wing, he is said to be one of the better ones and the Gophers just may have made him a lot more attainable. I don't know much about him but one thing has me worried, Kenny Smith was talking about his game earlier and he said that ShamBoss uses his strength to bully around others guards and get what he wants and he couldn't do that against Minnesota. If that is his biggest assets then he might be very infective cause I don't think there are many 2's he will be capable of pushing around, especially in his first couple of years in the NBA

In the early 1980s, Holmes was a 6-foot-5 standout guard for USC. He never made it to the pros. But he was already thinking far into the future.

As a student, Holmes said, he found himself fascinated by the careful breeding of thoroughbreds, the way that two fast, powerful horses could be crossed to create an even faster, more powerful colt.

Around that time he met Faye Paige, a point guard, sprinter and hurdler at Cal State Long Beach. Spotting her at a summer league game, Holmes recalled saying to a friend: "See that No. 10? She's going to be my wife, and we're going to make some All-Americans."

A few years later, the couple converted to Islam and changed their names. Paige became Faye Muhammad; Holmes tried several handles, including Ronald Muhammad, Ron Shabazz and Rashad Muhammad.

Today, he goes by Ron Holmes because, he said, he never finished his formal religious conversion. Court records show that Holmes used numerous aliases over the years but agreed to stick to his birth name as part of a 2000 probation agreement. In that federal criminal case, he pleaded guilty to using phony bank statements and tax returns to secure mortgages. He served six months' house arrest.

Holmes' life mission, though, has been to raise his three children to be professional athletes.

"If you're a doctor, your kid is going to med school. If you're a lawyer, he's going to law school," Holmes said. "I was an athlete. That's what I could do for my kids."

He even picked their names based on what "would sound good and be marketable worldwide," he said in one of several interviews with the Los Angeles Times.

Their first child, a daughter named Asia, was born in 1991. At Holmes' urging she took up tennis at age 7, landed an endorsement contract with Adidas at 17 and went pro. Now 21, she still labors in the sport's lower rungs.

Their youngest, Rashad, is a high school senior, a late bloomer on the basketball court who averaged more than 19 points a game this season and hopes to play college ball.

Holmes has pinned most of his hopes on the middle child, Shabazz.

I think Shabazz is harboring some serious psychological issues. He's gotta be with a "father" like that.

LOL at his father giving him the unique name because he knew it would help. Damn, this kid is more manufactured than Yao Ming. And I have no doubt his father made him lie about his age.

McLemore had a pretty good game. 11 points on 5 FGAs and 6 rebounds. Too many turnovers, though.

I don't think we should blame shabazz for the way his father raised him. There are plenty of pros that are raised this way.

We would be drafting Shabazz not his father.

After this he might drop to us. at 6-8

NBAdraft.net has him listed at 56. Unless the Gophers magically go to the final four behind strong play from him, this idea of him going 1st round is way way off

I don't see how Andre Hollins could be considered a first round pick. He's basically a 6'1 SG.

He's at 21 in next year's mock.

Needs to improve his PG skills but I'm confident he can be a decent prospect in the future. Watching him in the NIT last year, he played great. He outplayed Shabazz last night. He definitely needs to keep playing strong in this tourney.

Good rebounder for his size, not a bad passer, and can knock down 3s. Can play a little reckless and turn the ball over but he's been better. Not saying he's going to be a star or anything like that but I think he could be a 1st round pick in the next year or two (assuming he keeps improving).

I think we can end up with trading for #2 pick this year. If the trend keeps up and the worst team doesn't get the best draft pick, I can see Charlotte ending up with #2. Seeing as Noel will probably be picked first at number one, the next batch of talent would be McLemore, Smart, Porter, Oladipo and Shabazz. After the last couple of weeks of strong play from Henderson and considering that they need a big man and MKG was the #2 pick at SF last season, I can see Bobcats wanting to trade down and this is where we come in.

I imagine that we end up around the 5-7 pick So what about something like our #7 pick + DWill, for their #2 pick and Biyombo/Taylor? They end up with Williams and Zeller or something, while we can end up with a good backup in Biyombo or Taylor and McLemore.
