First Round Debate Sig Bet

Post#1 » by LOUiS-D » Fri Apr 5, 2013 3:01 am

The board seems pretty divided at this point. Not over whether we want PJ out (we do) or whether the fast rebuild has been a disappointment (it has) or whether we're anything but pretenders (we are). The hottest most divisive topic of debate is can we win a round?

Because losing isn't absolute proof of the inability to win a series I propose the following caveat:

If the Nets get within 5 points with 2 minutes remaining in a game that would win the series (ie they've already won 3) then this is proof that they were at least capable of winning a series even if they choke.

So.. if you're in pick a side.

People submit sigs for the opposing side to wear. Deadline for registration and sig submission is tip off of game 1. Winners vote on the sig to be used after the series. Losers wear the sig till All-Star break next season.

By special request I've added a hard mode bet where the losers agree not to post during the off season.

If you want in say the words "sig bet" or "high stakes bet" and "can win a series" or "can't win a series".

that missed Gerald Wallace layup on the D-Will razzle dazzle fast break says it all for me. Whoever's forcing him into the rotation has to go. He clearly isn't good at anything, and that includes defending. He's the worst finisher in the league at the 3 position. I don't see us getting past Chicago and definately will lose in 6 to Atlanta because of their speed up and down the court.

Just not playing Gerald Wallace in the 4th quarter is a waste of the previous 3 quarters

Is that a sig bet that the Nets won't get within 5 points/2 minutes of winning their first round match up?

Anything less than the 2nd round would be a disappointment to me. Put me down for can win a series. I see us winning in 6-7 and losing to the Heat in 5.

I'm in, only if the stakes are raised. Whoever I bet against has to agree to not post on the Nets board for the entire offseason if they lose. I'll do the same if I lose. Whoever wants in on this knows just let me know.

EDIT: For the record I think we DO get to the second round.

That is silly though. Just because some fans might disagree how deep we can get into the Playoffs doesn't mean they couldn't contribute to any offseason discussions. This is a good forum because its posted in frequently and there are a variety of viewpoints. I'd rather we don't give that up.

I'm not even convinced that the Nets can win more than one game in the playoffs, nevermind a ROUND.

Ok.. we can run a high stakes stream, with the losing side not posting during the off season.

Also if posters want to throw their hat in the ring say something like:

put me down for a sig bet on nets can win a series

or

put me down for a high stakes bet on the nets can't win a series

Lets raise the stakes even further...

If the Nets lose the first playoff round I will stop watching Nets games for a whole year and if they win I will stop watching for 2 years.

Either way I'm a winner.

If PJ and Billy want to save their jobs they better hope to get Indian first, then the Knicks second. Those are the only teams as slow as the Nets if not slower....any team that plays fast will kill us. With Reggie Evans and Gerald Wallace playing and practicing with the first team we are limited against quicker teams...that's why we have so many turnovers. We will not win more than a game against any other team.

i dont really get this. the main reason why the nets arent getting out of the first round is because we cant get stosp when we need to, like last night. being close is great, but its not winning, nor is it an indication that in future situations you will win.

we ahve the talent to not only beat, but handily beat atlanta. but we wont. will there be close games? yes. will we pull them out? no.

either way, put my down for a sig bet for the nets losing in round 1. with the exception that if we play indiana in the first round bet is off. i think we get by indiana. anyone else and we are cooked
