Knicks pick up QO alongside his early bird rights on Tyreke Evans so that we can be capable of resigning him.

And we pick up JR Smith's early bird rights.

http://espn.go.com/new-york/nba/story/_ ... ork-knicks

"The Knicks will have Smith's early Bird rights after next season, meaning they can exceed the salary cap to re-sign the shooting guard if he decides to decline the 2013-14 player option."

Hey man, could you edit/post FA offer requirements somewhere? Something I wanna implement to make it easier.

Subject: TEAM NAME - Player Name Offer (Tier x)

1. Full contract offer (invalid raises will be ignored)
2. Expected role on team (star, starter, backup, etc)
3. Team expectation (playoffs, rebuild, championship)

Tier 1 FA Demands
*Not all demands necessarily have to be met, it's more of a guideline, but the more you meet, the higher the chance of signing the player.

Dwight Howard
1. Big Market
2. Wants an All-Star caliber perimeter player on team
3. Wants to be "the man"

Chris Paul
1. Championship contender
2. Wants an All-Star caliber big on team
3. Wants a five-year, max deal with PO.

Andrew Bynum
1. Wants a five-year, max deal with PO.

are you saying that CP and Bynum will only resign with their own team? They are the only team that can offer them a 5 year deal

Already asked him this too! He said that's what they like, but no teams can meet all the requirements (or may not).

Think it's in order of importance. As in if Chris Paul has to choose between the team with the All-Star big man and the team that can offer him a 5-year contract, he might choose the team with the All-Star big man. Confirm that with orangeparka, but that's how I interpret it.

Orangeparka, will you be doing this with tiers 1-4?

MLE

I've been looking at the MLE info in the opening post, and also the Salary Cap FAQ, and various sources, just to clarify the information. I would appreciate if Karma or SamBone could validate the info in this post; I'm fairly sure it's correct though.

Under tax is $5,150,000 4 yrs 3% raises

When a team uses a non-taxpayer's MLE, they are committing to the fact that they won't be taxpayers
so they invoke a hard cap right around $75M

Actually, from Larry Coon's FAQ:

NON-TAXPAYER MID-LEVEL EXCEPTION -- This exception is available only when a team is below the "apron" (i.e., not paying luxury tax, or less than $4 million above the tax line).

This determination is made after the exception is used, so a team below the apron cannot use this exception if doing so takes it above the apron

Further, any team that uses its Non-Taxpayer Mid-Level exception cannot go above the apron for the remainder of that season. In other words, once a team uses its Non-Taxpayer Mid-Level exception, the apron effectively becomes a hard cap for the remainder of that season4. This eliminates any potential loophole where a team could first use its full Non-Taxpayer Mid-Level exception and subsequently add salary to go above the apron, since adding salary first and then using the exception would be illegal.

My interpretation of this is that the Non Tax Payer MLE can be used for teams that would be at a maximum of $79m salary following use of the MLE. (This would be the 'apron').

Or alternatively, you can be at a maximum of $73,850,000 in salary and holds before using the Non Tax Payer MLE).

The invoked Hard Cap would be $79m.
There is no consolation prize. Winning is everything.

correct except that I think the tax mark for the game is $70M so the hard cap would be $74mil if you us the non tax mle (also I thought it was $5m , not $5.15, but have not read the opening thread

Lux Tax is definitely $75m, as per the rules in the signup topic:

Karmaloop wrote:6a.) Salary cap is set at 60 million, luxury tax is set at 75 million, and the hard tax is set at 90 million.

The MLE value is probably going to confuse people as it lists 2011-12 and 2012-13 starting at $5m but at the end has the bit I quoted above saying $5.15m.

I think the exact figures are:

$5,150,000
$5,304,500
$5,459,000
$5,613,500
= $21,527,000
There is no consolation prize. Winning is everything.
