Grits n Gravy wrote:nikola mirotic last until pick 23 knowing he would not be in the nba for a few years at least and he was a hell of a lot more proven and exposed that giannis is. still i think someone will take a flyer on him in the late teens/early twenties.

The difference is that Mirotic was adamant that he had no interest in coming to the NBA and, IIRC, signed a 5 year contract around the time of the draft. He would have gone a hell of a lot higher if he'd been eager to join the league.

i think he's already the "flavor of the month." i'm just seeing these really high expectations which probably will result in him being scouted more thoroughly.

Hardaway Jr. looked like he has pro-tools tonight. I watched him shoot the ball against the gophers and thought the same thing. I wonder how late he will go this year. At 6''6 he is a pretty nice 2 guard prospect. Can anyone speak to whether he is a ball-handler or not? It looks like he was second in assists behind Burke, but that doesn't mean a whole lot in college.

I wonder if glen robinson iii will declare. He could be a late lotto pick after the tourney,

I thought Dieng played well tonight too. Could be an intriguing option.

He probably should go back for another year. He still seems a bit raw in some areas, but I wouldn't be surprised if he declares this year. 2014 will have a lot of good wings, assuming they declare. He might go higher this year than next.

At the moment I hope we are able to come out of the draft with these four guys based on who is available when we pick.

Otto Porter
Jamaal Franklin
Erik Murphy
Pierre Jackson

The final two guys are obviouslly training camp fodder with the hope we strike gold.
"That's why the last two years weren't guaranteed," Walsh said. "Either way, he knew it could have happened either way."

whats up w/ Caldwell-Pope, has he announced his intentions yet? The guy loves to play off the ball and stroke jumpers, seems like a really solid fit next to Rubio.

This guy may be an intriguing option with the MEM pick.

Crabbe could be a really nice player. I'm a UofA fan and he was magnitudes better than Shabazz in the games I watched either of them in. I don't expect he'll make an enormous impact right out of the gate, but I think he'll be better than a lot of guys that are slotted higher than he is. Would love to get him as a deep bench guy for next season.

Wouldn't mind a reach on (or trade slightly down for) Caldwell-Pope if we end up around 10, miss on Oladipo, and can't get anything worthwhile in a trade for the pick.

Crabbe has some good skills, but I heard he's often in a bad mood. Could be an issue.

LOL, every time I watch one of those scouting vids I think "this guy looks really good". Then I watch the Weaknesses part and think "I can totally see him doing this on the Wolves - he sucks".

Also, what's up with Oregon's court? I thought their football unis were ugly but jeez, that thing is horrendous. I know it's suppose to be trees and such but it looks like a giant threw up on it.

I heard a lot about Crabbe during the season for being a big time player, but someone who watches the Pac 12 a lot told me he is a complete baby. I saw him in one half of basketball and he was acting incredibly moody. I kind of couldn't believe it from a player in college. Has anyone else seen this behavior? Doesn't seem mature enough to succeed in the league. A lot of speculation on my part, so I could definitely be off. The only other time I heard something like this and saw a player afterwards, it was DeMarcus Cousins. But at least with him I thought, "this guy is an incredible talent."

Chad Ford (meh) but out a first round mock today and I was shocked at how many bigs were available late. It seems that there are many big men in the range of a Meyers Leonard available in the 20s. WIthey, Dieng, McGary, and Isaiah Austin are all bigs that I would have taken in front of Fab Melo who went in the high 20s last year. Good year for depth they say.

Now the dream is can we get a game-changing SG early and collect one of these guys late.

We need a sharp shooting SG with decent size. Rubio's glaring inconsistency necessitates it. I would be all in favor of trading up for McLemore. Please let this be the year we actually make a jump into the top-3
