Laker Offseason Plan to Pick up CP3

Post#1 » by blackham9258 » Tue Apr 16, 2013 11:03 pm

Lakers: Amnesty Kobe, Trade Pau Gasol & 1St Round Pick to Utah Jazz, Send Nash to Toronto...Toronto sends Linas Kleiza to Jazz with Cash and Pick.

Then Lakers re-up Dwight, Sign away CP3, and after next season resigns Kobe for one last title run.

Utah would do the Pau deal, but will they do both is the question.

I love Nash and Pau but getting CP3 to pair with Dwight and eventually Kobe is better than 2 more seasons of an old Nash.

Thoughts?

CP3 currently has a better, deeper supporting cast that actually all like each other and have no drama. The GM also consults him before all moves made. And he would leave that to play with....Dwight?

Basically, Yes! Dwight is a top 5 player in his prime. The deeper cast is basically made up of a center who only dunks, and a stud power forward. The rest are career backups and all they could muster this year was a 4/5 seed. I would rather spend my prime on a team that is a proven place for top flight free agents.

Why would Utah trade for Pau when they have Favors and Kanter?
Why would Toronto trade for Nash when they have Lowry?

Lets take one position, sf:
Caron Butler, Matt Barnes, Grant Hill, DeJuan Summers. What team has a better SF rotation than that?

6th man of the year Crawford comes off the bench. And Chauncey is one of the most clutch ever. Griffen is the most athletic player he will ever play with, and he is expanding his game every year.

The funniest thing is your knocking of Jordan, who basically has the exact same game as Dwight, but with less shot attempts.

Why would CP3 leave the Clips because his team is soft. To say that Jordan is the same as Dwight with less shot attempts is laughable. As far as Utah... Favors and Kanter are ready to get big minutes but are not ready to do it alone but the Jazz don't want to resign Jefferson or Millsap to big dollars for 4/5 years each when they can give the young guys one more year of tutelage under an all star post player. Pau gives them a one year bridge and all 3 will get roughly 32 minutes a night with Favors/Gasol as starters and kanter off the bench.

Trust me the Jazz do this. CP3 I believe would rather pair with Dwight and eventually Kobe along with Earl Clark than the aging SF's of LAC who would likely sign with CP3 in LAL after their contracts. The only real piece that couldn't be duplicated is Griffin who is good but not great. Watch what happens if the Clips get put out by Memphis in the first round.

By the way the play by play guy for Utah: David Locke is friends with Jon Ireland the play by play guy of LAL and they had a podcast today on weareutahjazz.com/lockedonjazz discussing the playoff race between the Lakers and Jazz and David Locke has said on multiple occasions that he thinks that Gasol is the exact kind of move the Jazz would make to bridge the growth of the young bigs of the Jazz.

Take a listen.

Why would the Raptors take Nash? I know they wanted to sign him but after an injury plague season?

Kobe is going to play next season. The guy got surgery the very next day. So that's about 7 1/2 months of healing time, rehabilitation, etc. before next season. That is all this guy is going to be focusing on for 7 1/2 months. He doesn't have a 9-5 job...that will be his focus.

I think every post that talks about amnestying kobe should be locked. You don't give 17 years to a franchise and get amnestied. :D

Lakers won't amnesty kobe. Not for a "better" future, not to save 80+ million, never. He's gonna play next year. U lose his bird rights. U disrespect one of the greatest lakers/players to ever play. He gave everything for this team. Never, never.

I know Realgm rules state that I shouldn't attack the poster, but attack the post....but i'm going to break the rules here. I personally want to call all you people dumb ****'s who want to amnesty the heart and soul of this team away. He's done so much for this team for 17 years now and with one injury, you want to just throw him to the side. well go eff yourselves.
