Re: 2013 Draft Targets
As somebody who doesn't watch much NCAA bball, would it be accurate to compare Shabazz to a slightly bigger OJ Mayo?
Thriving on mediocrity since '89.

Re: 2013 Draft Targets
I love a scenario in which we maneuver down with our pick and up with the Memphis pick to end the day with Dieng and McCollum. We'd get two players who look likely to contribute immediately and still have plenty of upside.
Although it should be noted that I wouldn't be surprised at all if Dieng works his way into the top 10, so maybe we'd just need to take him at our pick.

I'd also be happy with Dieng and McCollum.
I especially like McCollum for our team... he's NBA ready (definitely some similarities with Lillard in last year's draft in that regard), and an excellent shooter, which is our biggest single area of need.
While McCollum might not have a super-high ceiling -- I see him as a Jason Terry type player in the NBA -- he could contribute from day one. He's also a good ballhandler, which works well for the 2 in Adelman's system (and would allow him to play some backup PG, as well), and his size/defense wouldn't be too much of an issue for us, since Rubio can guard SGs.

Re: 2013 Draft Targets
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope has all the tools to become a legit starting SG in the league. Very good off the ball, he'd get Rubio a ton of assists.

I was reading an article that said he is probably the most underrated 2 guard in the draft. He just played on a crappy team so not many people know who he is. Ive heard that he has a chance to go late lottery as well.

Re: 2013 Draft Targets
I'd like to see us take Allen Crabbe with our Memphis pick. 6'6" with a nice shooting stroke at SG. We could trade back with Utah for #14 & #21 for our pick (#8 or #9).

Bad advice? Top-5 pick, take the money because you might not be top-10 next season.

Bill Simmmons and another guy were discussing him on a podcast and mentioned the same thing. I think he could be a very solid pick for us.

He must not care about money is all I could think of.
a) PG shooting 40% w/ 4 assists on the year and are getting still somehow getting top 5 in the draft
b) very unlikely to be drafted in the top 5 next year
c) losing out on a year of salary
d) having to wait another year for the first extension
e) always that chance of a horrific injury
financially, it's huge gamble with the only upside being "well maybe I'll be more prepared when I enter the NBA"

i thought someone would say, "but it's his decision" and i refuse to give anyone the opportunity to say something totally lame. i actually had another comment that i opted against. it was, "smart's decision is not a smart decision" the goal really was to make the cheesiest comment ever.

Seems about right until it gets to zeller. Would rather take Caldwell-pope or dieng over him

Re: 2013 Draft Targets
I can't figure out why Zeller is so highly ranked in mocks and on sites like Draft Express. He doesn't appear to have a ton of upside to be a top 5 pick.
Return to Minnesota Timberwolves
