Caldwell-pope better thank Gary Harris. Cause he's now projected as a lottery pick.

I'm starting to believe its a no brainer to grab the guy at this point.

McCollum reminds me of Steph Curry a little bit. He might turn out to be a 6th man, I dunno, but I see upside him that I don't see in a lot of the other players in the draft. 25 ppg scorer potential??

Haven't seen much of anything from Pope but I like what I hear. Maybe he's one of those wings on a bad team that sees his stock skyrocket come draft time a la Paul George?

I don't know we have a lot of young guys already 2 rookies...I think we would do it if we fell in love with someone who fell like Bazz or Olad, and you guys don't want the risk of either so you go the known (Wes).

What's the Khan sitch? who makes the decisions for you guys? Rick? Owner?

Kahn sitch is undecided ATM but most people are expecting him back for another year. Adelman seems to make most of the personnel decisions or at least gives Kahn a wish list to work off of.

The potential or upside label should only be used when someone has physical gifts, ike ur paul george example.

Mcollum is much more skilled than MCelmore, Oladipo, or Shabazz, but they are being drafted over him because of their potential.

I dont see much upside in MCollum because he is already a polished player with not much athleticism or size,

I dont' understand that logic at all. So Love and Rubio didn't have upside when they were drafted?

my 2 red flags are talk of his handles being crap and a 6'5.5 wingspan. With that length, I'm having a hard time taking him over McCollum.

Looking at the DX mock. From 9-19, heres what we have:

7 Cs
1 PF/C
1 SG
1 PG
1 PG/SG

I'm thinking we'll have better luck taking a C like Dieng over taking a undersized combo guard like McCollum.

Seems to play big though... i mean 7 plus rebounds per game? Interesting that DX still has him at #26 though.

?

Lets be real nobody thought Kevin Love would even be close to how good he is now.

Ricky Rubio had upside because hes 6'4 with long arms and was already an elite passer from day 1 and we drafted him when he was 18-19. Mcollum is about to be 22. Ricky has a chance to be elite if he can improve his shooting.

Mcollums game is fit for college. How many 6'2 6'3 shooting guards whos game revolves around getting to the basket fair in the nba? His size/lack of athleticism/no elite skill will hold him back.

Steph Curry comparisons don't make much sense either because elite shooters always have a place in the nba no matter how undersized they may be.

I think we can stop the talk about McCollum...

With Brandon Roy not expected to return next season, Timberwolves coach Rick Adelman said finding a "quality" shooting guard will be one of the team's top offseason priorities.

"That's something we'll really have to look around for," Adelman said before the team's game against Phoenix on Saturday night, April 13, at Target Center. "It's too hard to play point guards at that spot. Luke (Ridnour) is overmatched all the time playing bigger two-guards.We have to find a way to get more size there."

http://www.twincities.com/timberwolves/ ... pping-list

Ridnour: 6'2", 180 lbs
McCollum: 6'3", 190 lbs

I don't think Adelman would consider that a big enough difference.

McCollum shot over 50% from 3 taking 5 3's a game while being the key player player every team he faced tried to stop. I don't think his game revolves around getting to the basket. Monta Ellis he ain't. The guy is more of an elite shooter that has more upside IMO because of his ball handling, and ability to create off the dribble. Whether he's the next Jason Terry, JJ Redick, or Gilbert Arenas, similar players have shown they can start in the league and be well worth the #9 draft slot in a krappy draft.

Terry might actually be a good comparison for him. Still doesn't make me want him on the Wolves though...

ESPN lists him at 200 lbs. Which is more than Mclemore (185ESPN/181DX) and similar to Pope (205ESPN/185DX).

Ray Allen weighs 205. Avery Bradley one of the best guard defenders in the league weighs 180.

I don't think you can dismiss him because of his "reported" size at all.

So that's enough to dismiss his shooting ability? He took 5 shots a game this year and also shot 42% his freshman year taking 5 a game.
