New GM Candidates?
Does anyone here have any information about potential GM candidates now that Blanks is gone? I've thought about coaching replacements for Lindsey Hunter, but it occurred to me that I don't really know any good or bad GMs available and I'm also not sure if we will look for a qualified person with some good history in the draft or instead start fresh with someone like a former player.

I'd like to nominate myself for the position.

That is because almost nobody likes the GM. Seriously, most people hate their GM no matter what team it is (with a few exceptions, of course).
I would hate being a GM. It's literally impossible to please the fans. As a GM, you obviously have more inside information about prospects in the draft or free agents than the fans do. And yet, there will always be some people on these forums bitching and moaning about any move you make because they think they know so much better. I'll admit that I am one of those people, but it still must be very frustrating.

This will most likely never happen, but what about Phil Jackson?
Okay, now that you've stopped laughing, hear me out. He's said that he'd like to join a front office in some capacity, but most likely does not want to coach anymore. He has done all there is to do from a coaching standpoint, so actually building a team from the ground up seems like something he might be interested in.
Right now, if Phil were to join the Suns as the GM, he could build everything to his liking. The Suns currently have an opening at head coach, a very high draft pick, lots of other assets, no one (other than Dragic, perhaps) that is a for sure keeper on the roster going forward, tons of roster flexibility and most importantly, money to spend this offseason.
Usually when a GM joins a team there are limitations to what they can or can't do. For the most part, the Suns have an opportunity to start fresh and wipe the slate clean. Hiring an intelligent and successful basketball mind to build the team going forward is a great start. If Phil were interested, Sarver and Babby need to give him total control. If that weren't enough to entice him, at least Phoenix would be close to his home in LA and it would be the perfect opportunity for him to stick it to the Lakers!
Well, it's wishful thinking.....

I'd do anything to be the GM.
Then maybe something good would happen to this team.

Re: New GM Candidates?
If I was Sarver and Babby...
I'd do something drastic to elevate moral and Suns "name" in the fans eyes.
Sign GM (unknown, but good track record, some good proposals from other team fans like celtics etc)
Sign Barkley as Assistant GM... be the face of the FO, for the fans and media circus.
Sign Grant Hill as Assistant Coach... (with long term goal of being GM or Assistant GM, basically 2017+ )

I heard on the Doug and Wolf show that Tom Chambers likes a combonation of Paul Westphal as GM and Jeff Hornacek as coach.

Anyone that's a part of the OKC Thunder FO.
Orlando took from them and its turned out pretty nicely for them. We should follow suit.

Ha, maybe he's been reading my posts. But he mixed up the Paul.

I would take Hill over Westphal, just because of what BH said. Since Paul was sacked by Sac, I'm not sure how well he is respected by players around the league (he could be fine, I'm just uncertain).

Didn't Orlando finish with a worse record than us?

They are pretty much where we are. Their young talent are pretty average as well.

Well, I like Vucevic but the other young guys are pretty average in my books.
