im tired of hearing posters on this board not like Richard Jefferson and calling him a bum/scrub. I don't see it. He's a veteran presence who plays the small forward position pretty well. When he is in the game it's because Jackson wants some stability and a smart player make good decisions. Sure he's not the same player he was on the Nets, but he has been solid on the court for the Warriors in the playoffs so far. With that said, if we can dump him for a younger/better veteran i'm all for it, but just stop with the jefferson hate.

There aren't any big name FA's for RJ and Beans explring contract years, so I dont see any team giving up alot for the expiring contacts.

I can easily see the warriors playing out their contacts and make a run at Chris Bosh or using the money to extend klay, barnes, and bogut, lets not forget after this season jack will need to be extended too.

Buying out Biedrins at 100% of his 2013-14 accomplishes nothing. If anything, it forces the Warriors to have to pick up another end of the bench player. And even though that salary would be small, it still would likely put them further into the luxury tax for 2013-14.

Now, if Biedrins would agree to a Foyle like buyout (roughly 2/3rds), then it might be worth it. In the past, having expiring contracts was beneficial, but with the new CBA, a lot of teams have expiring contracts and don't have to take crap players back in trades.

It's the one position that, other than Randolph, we haven't tried to address in the draft for a while. I think as a franchise we got a bit shy of slightly-underperforming high-pick 4s like Joe Smith and Antawn Jamison.

I don't think David Lee is the be-all and end-all, but I haven't seen anything around that I believe we could get that would make up for the offense and savvy and rebounding. He's about the only Warrior (except Landry) that consistently makes a face-up mid-range shot, for one thing, which helps spread defenses a bit. Barnes may change that, but he's not quite there yet. Klay and Curry are now guarded all the way in starting at the 3 point line.

Unless an elite player can be traded for, with the use of these expiring's, I see them playing out their contracts. The cap space is being saved for the summer of 2014.

Is there an expiring contract from other teams that has a CANCER with a smaller contract? That might be the only path to get it done.

Uh huh...and that would be pretty much a lateral move...at best. GSW might be able to get some guy with 2 yr left...who's overpaid...for either expire...and that also is not real attractive. Given the $ involved and that neither player is even "rotation"....there's little hope for any "easy escape"

The NBA announced that the salary cap will remain at $58.044 million and the luxury tax threshold will be $70.307 million.

Owners will receive a $1.50 penalty for every dollar spent when their team payroll exceeds the luxury tax by at least $5 million. That penalty increases for every $5 million that team spends and can reach up to $3.25 for every dollar spent. Also, franchises will be receive additional fines for exceeding the luxury tax threshold more than three times in five seasons.

They will be at $78,784,274, assuming the Warriors sing Jack for $5,000,000 and Rush, Landry, and Jefferson pick up their options . They would have to pay $12,715,911 in luxury tax for a grand total of $91,500,185.

Maybe the Warriors could trade Jefferson (1 year $11,046,000) for Drew Gooden (2 years $13,374,800). The Bucks save $2,328,800 in the long run and the Warriors get $4,358,600 closer to the Luxury tax threshold. That means the Warriors would save $8,597,237 in luxury tax penalties! The grand total would be $78,544,348.

3 of our last 7 first-round picks have been PF's - Brandan Wright, Anthony Randolph, and Ekpe Udoh. None worked out as well as hoped. (I'm counting Wright as our pick, considering the draft-day deal where we got him.)

3 of the other 4 have done well: Curry, Thompson, and Barnes. The last guy in the group (Belinelli) was so-so, kind of what is expected for a guy drafted in the second half of the first round.

I guess the message is that historically we've been pretty poor at drafting PF's, but good at drafting smaller positions. But our not getting a quality PF through the draft isn't through lack of trying.

I'd love to get Iggy here at $10M/year. Your plan suggests that he opts out of the last year of his deal (unlikely), and does a sign-and-trade to join the Warriors. But if I'm Denver, why do I want to facilitate that, when all I get back is Rush and Jefferson or Biedrins? I'm not going to count on getting anything out of Jefferson or Biedrins, so I'm basically paying $13-$14M for 1 year of Rush, who is coming off of an injury. Thanks, but no thanks. Now, if we made it Barnes or Thompson + Jefferson/Biedrins, they may talk to us.....

EDIT: even if we can't get Iggy this off-season (which would seem really unlikely), if he stays healthy I'd have no problem pursuing him for a reasonable (i.e. $10M/year) price in summer 2014. He still would be an ideal wing for us, and can play either the 2 or the 3. We could then try to trade for a superstar by putting up an offer of Lee + either Barnes or Thompson, adding a pick if needed. Imagine how the following starting line-up would fare: Curry/Klay/Iggy/Bosh/Bogut (I'm assuming/hoping we could get him back at ~$8M/year). I'd put that line-up out against any in the league.
