Clippers sources insist no decision has been made on Del Negro yet and that this early playoff exit won't be the only basis upon which he's judged. The team won a franchise-record 56 games this season and Del Negro has always had a good relationship with the team's ownership.
The team is expected to take "about a week" to evaluate the season before making a decision on Del Negro, according to one source. Officially Del Negro's contract runs a few more months, and the Clippers have been known to take their time with such matters -- interim coach Kim Hughes famously worked several months after he was dismissed as interim head coach -- but "that's not going to happen this time," the source said.Paul becomes an unrestricted free agent July 1, and while one source said the franchise is "as confident as we can be under the circumstances," until he actually signs there are sure to be some nervous moments.
"I got a lot of time to think about that," Paul said after Friday's game. "As I do with any decision I make, I consult with my wife, my parents, my brother, my family. I might even let little Chris chime in on this. We'll see what happens.""I think he knows what we can do here," Clippers forward Blake Griffin said of Paul. "He knows how we've done things, especially the last two years. I think he knows it's a great place to play.

Hopefully they were just being nice and really want to fire VDN right away.
As for Paul.He looks like he isn't completely set on staying but I don't think he'll trade LA for Atlanta,LA is such a great place to be

I still just can't see Paul leaving, if he did I'd be very very shocked.
I don't want DJ to go, I understand why he could but with the right coach that BELIEVES in DJ (go away Vinny) I think DJ could surprise some people

Re: Clippers will 'evaluate everything'
I really don't mind DJ, I really like him, and he's worked hard an improved. Honestly it will be really hard to find a C that can replicate what he does. There's no player like that in the FA market that seems affordable for the Clippers. He needs to live with the shooting coach, needs to become a 55%+ FT shooter. He needs to continue getting comfortable in the post and learn to pass and not turn it over. But I think people realize that he needs to be put in a better defensive system and that there's talent you just don't find anywhere there.
FA options are Dalembert and Pachulia (28). Mozgov is an RFA, so he's not happening. Also DJ would have to be traded in a deal that brings back less salary, and even then, if no C comes back, only MLE is available to sign players.
DJ and Bledsoe for 37 year old KG plus signing Pierce off the market if he's cut could become an option, but you're really old there. Crawford and Barnes are 30+ too. The only young people would be Paul, Blake, draft pick(s). 3 way trade with NOH (gets Bledsoe + Butler) and PHO (gets Eric Gordon + 25th pick) to land (Frye and 4th pick) for Bledsoe, Butler and 25th pick would be great if Frye returns to health. I would wait on that one of make sure he passes the physical if those teams even accept.

Re: Clippers will 'evaluate everything'
DJ has to go man.
the benefit of him being a t. chandler is definitely outweighed by what having a good two way player can do for you. plus he has 2 expensive years left and i'm not sure those Chandler years are in the next 2.
I'm a fan of going small like the Heat since the only true 7 foot bully is the always injured Bynum and Marc Gasol is just a skilled big not a bully.
I dunno if I can lobby for us to deal for Horford...but Ima fan of it...I want to go small and spread the floor. I'm tired of not having 5 offensive threats on the floor and when you play a team like memphis, it goes to like 1. Plus, how the hell has CP3 made the pick and roll work without a marksman from midrange like D. West? I don't even want to think about it.
oh
any VDN supporters want to lobby for him to come back?

Thing about going small with this team is that Blake doesn't have length. Bosh is skinny but lanky and covers a lot of space horizontally and vertically. Blake is the Lebron on the team, but he even covers less area than Lebron, shorter reach and wingspan, not as quick as Lebron defensively.
I wouldn't mind going "small" with a guy like Channing Frye as a starting C. You guys already know I like the prospect of a Frye/Griffin front court. Frye rebounds well defensively too even though he doesn't rebound offensively, and it isn't really small since he has good size. He makes $6-7M a year.
Here's the issue, you are then asking Griffin to basically become a DPOY level defender like Lebron, your SF to be as good as Battier defensively, and your SG to be as good of an off ball SG defender as Wade. Miami's defense works because they can cover a ton of ground and rotate well, but even they struggle defending three's and rotating and covering shooters against teams with good ball movement.
If you have Caron Butler at SF and Green/Crawford at SG, you'll just have a bad defensive team trying to go small. Barnes would be decent, bit the rest, not so much. Building a team to go small will take a lot of work in re-tooling the roster

Your organization has a no-name GM, no analytics department, and one of the worst owners in the league (who brought back VDN just because his wife liked him).
I wouldn't put much faith in your "evaluation" to produce a championship-level squad.

List of Guys that need to be re-signed...... Willie Green & Matt Barnes
On the Fence Ryan Hollins
Got 2 Go Grant Hill ( if he retires,) Chauncey Billups, Rony Turiaf, Lam-Lam
Traded Away Eric Bledsoe & DeAndre Jordan
VDN is gone, Welcome Byron or Monty? Maybe even a Super Sleeper......... Sam "I Am" Cassel
Unfortunately, DJ has proved that he is not worth his contract and he was the MAIN reason why we stumbled at the end. You can't pay a guy 10 mil & have him sit on the bench or not contribute. I like DJ, but he isn't a top tier center, i'd rather have Lopez from the Pelicans. We have to trade Bled & package him w/ DJ to get draft picks & players back.
Lam Lam sucks, how dare he come into camp FAT & out of shape 2 years in a row; Go suck a Lollipop, Sugar Lam-Lam. Turiaf............ nuff said
Willie Green never got enough kudos this year, thanks Willie!! Barnes played hard all season.

Re: Clippers will 'evaluate everything'
willie green is already signed. we just need to pick up his team option. it's just a bit more than 1.3 per year for 2 years.
please fire Vinny. the man manages clippers as bad as don mattingley manages bullpen.
i would like an upgrade at C, but i can't find a fit for a trade unless we take less talent and/or **** contract. i say trade him if that's what it takes to keep CP3 around or keep DJ if that's what it takes to keep Cp3 around.
let CP3 pick his own coach and have DTS pay up that money and a contract.
and it's hard to imagine not bringing back matt barnes after stepping up bigtime last night.

the Heat start Haslem and Bosh.
Griff is taller and just longer than Haslem.
i would never expect griff to do what lbj does on the floor.
it can work...we just need younger athletic wings as you said.
good thing I want Caron out of here and we'll draft a decent two no matter where we are in the draft.
maybe the Ariza deal again? who knows.
as long as Channing Frye's heart checks out, I'm game for that as well.
CP3's expertise on the pick and roll is limited because he doesn't have someone who can pick and pop.
so anyway Sacks can remedy that problem works for me...Garnett, Horford, Frye...etc. etc.
edit:
i've wanted that long SF too to go along with the "small" line up...Chandler Parsons. I now realize Houston landed on a gold mind (sp?) and probably wont deal him any time soon.
but...just a thought.
would you take a run at Danilo again?
I sure would...no effs given about the ACL as long as his meniscus was repaired and not completely removed.
i think we could talk denver into that.
wouldn't pay dividends in 2014 though.

Re: Clippers will 'evaluate everything'
Gordon Hayward is nice, but that isn't happening. I don't know of there are any long athletic forwards that are available for the Clippers. Kirilenko would be nice, but again, that isn't going to happen, and he's expensive.
I don't know, there are a lot of not so desirable contracts to get rid of, while bringing back the right players to make it work, will e a bit difficult.
Denver loves Danillo, so I don't see that being an option. If Olshey still likes DJ, you could try and move him to Portland and being back someone like Matthews, but I honestly don't think Portland would do that.

Re: Clippers will 'evaluate everything'
Unfortunately it's going to be hard for the Clippers to make too many moves.
Chris Paul as GM has been a mixed bag. Pros: Barnes, Willie Green (or neutral anyway), Cons: Jamal Crawford, Chauncey Billups. Chauncey is terrible and even worse he wants to start even though he doesn't have it anymore. He needs to go. Chris Paul needs to realize he needs to go and not try and get in the way. We should also look to trade Jamal Crawford for a defensive big man like a Mbah a Moute or Udoh or something. Because Odom didn't live up to expectations we don't have a reliable third big man.
Bledsoe and DJ have some value but probably not as much as we would want. We also really should have traded Butler for Ariza. I say if it's a lateral trade talent wise and you get younger you make that trade 10 out of 10 times. That was Sterling's mistake for holding it up.
In terms of no-brainer moves I would say:
1) Re-sign Barnes as long as he's not too expensive
2) Re-sign Odom for 4 mil over two years.
3) Keep Willie
4) Keep one of Turiaf or Hollins but not both.
That leaves a lot of holes in our roster. I think the Clippers sorely lack a third player. I would try and package Butler and a 1st for Afflalo and see if Orlando bites. If not then revisit the Butler for Ariza trade. I would then look to package bledsoe and maybe Crawford for an upgrade at the PG position.
If Chris Paul does want to leave then we should package him to a team like the Pacers or Houston which would have the pieces to do a deal.

The age factor is tough, but these guys are legends, and even at their age bring above average - star type of play. It will all come down to how much will it take to sign Pierce. Man they would look great in a Clippers uniform though.

Yea, it's certainly a win now type of move, but you do still have your main guys being young.
PS: The ultimate plan is actually to trade Bledsoe and Butler for a SG, then just bring back Shaun, Brand and Maggette with Cassell as an assistant coach.
Paul / Livingston
SG traded for / Crawford
Barnes / Maggette
Griffin / Brand
Jordan / Brand
The bench becomes the re-uniting of the old Clippers. I'm just kidding btw

Anyone else feel like when DJ has the ball in the low post, it looks like he's bouncing a bouncy ball? It always bounces over his head and he loses the ball. So frustrating, considering how different he looked the first week of the season.
