that's what I mean. a rapper like Wiz isn't escaping life, he's just enjoying it more high. And he probably is addicted, if not the herb then to the act of smoking.

well no, i just don't want to waste my life doing arbitrary stuff. im always looking to improve my life and learn. video games add nothing to my life. chemicals like weed and and lsd help me experience the world from a different perspective.

Never said they were all addicts. Only that his assertion was accurate as it pertains to addiction.

There are Physiological addictions like addiction to Meth and psychological addictions like Cannabis, but you probably already know this since you studied processes like this.

Platos cave is basically about escaping reality. If you remember once the person sees how the world really is, he feels more comfortable going back to the pseudo one.

The matrix movie is a great example of the allegory.
If you have seen the movie the character that also took the pill to escape the cyber world wanted to go back into the cyber reality because he disliked the real world.
