i want this rotation 2014

Post#1 » by number15 » Fri May 24, 2013 10:48 am

I don't care if the Jays even fight back and make the playoffs.... next year I would like them to use some prospects and go young.

Johnson, Burhle out...

1- Dickey
2- Morrow
3- Hutcheson
4- Drabek
5- Nolin/Stroman/Happ

My dream team for 2014....... Hutch had surgery but he was the most promising young arm in the team. Drabek was flirting with nearing Ace level.

I don't have much hope for Drabek to be honest. Will be interesting to see how Hutch does though.

Drabek was shaky at times, but dominant at others... and hes young, so I have high hopes for him. I think he will be a MLB pitcher if injuries dont kill his career. Hopefully he will be a Blue Jay is things go well.

But i agree, Hutcheson is the true gem.

Flirting with ace level? I'm not sure what Drabek you were watching, but the guy was nearly imploding on the mound on a nightly basis. I really don't think you can count on either of Hutch or Drabek for a team that has about a 2-3 year window for contending.

Maybe one day Drabek will be half as good as Josh Johnson.

With this rotation, they will be in the same position they are right now a year from now. Happ has been inconsistent this year, and same with Morrow. You can never know how a pitcher performs after surgery and a long layoff, and you saying Drabek was near Ace level is far fetched. I think this team will lose Johnson because i doubt AA gives him the contract he is looking for. Roy Halladay is a free agent and i will do everything possible to bring him back. If not him, they need an another solid veteran arm in the offseason, if they lose Johnson and decide to trade Beuhrle.

Note the capitalization; he means Ace, the Blue Jays mascot.

I like the thought process here. Obviously every time we've tried to put together a good rotation we've seen every single pitcher spontaneously combust at the same time. So trying another approach couldn't hurt, an approach where we rely on Kyle Drabek is definitely considered another approach.

No, we relied on Drabek at the beginning of the 2012 season, and that didn't work.

I think we're stuck with Buehrle and his backloaded salary, and I don't think that's the worst thing the world.

So I would say:

Dickey
Hutch
Buehrle
Morrow (and his terrific advance stats, and his high ERA)
Happ

If Morrow has a few good starts and Stroman an/or Nolin and some other prospect in the organization looks strong, then trade him. I don't know if its the diabetes, but he's just not reliable enough for my taste.

Anyone who wants Kyle Drabek in the rotation likely hasn't done much actual watching of Kyle Drabek in the rotation. He's been awful in the majors.

A Drabek/Nolin 1/2 punch seems even better to me.

What bothers me the most is that the fact other teams like the Yankees facing injuries are doing great and we bit the injury bug early and haven't been able to hold up even having the depth. I think you have to give it some time no team has won it all in the first year of building a power house but this is going to be a good team when or if we keep it together long enough to get it clicking.

I def think Hutch was a top 3 pitcher end of last year. Morrow reminds me of AJ Burnett he is either amazing or awful. He can get 10 k's and give up 5 runs I dont get it. Dickey well I dont want to judge much but I think the pressure may have gotten to him but he is still a great number 2 guy. I would love to see the rookie Hutch come take the number one spot. Romero may not be making any noise till next year he may need to step away from baseball to get it back together.
