Wizenheimer wrote:to me, it looked like Meyers Leonard's biggest problem was slow reaction time. I can't count the number of times I saw him turn his head to a play on defense when the play was just being completed. It's like he was almost always surprised by what the offense did

likewise on rebounds. Most of the times when he was even dialed into the possibility of a rebound, it was way to late to gain any position, and way to late to box out

I'm hoping that's all a function of inexperience rather then either genetically slow reaction time or bad BBIQ...or some combination of the two

In Jermaine's first pre season he was like a cat. Agile smooth and reactionary, by the time the season rolled around he looked like a deer in the headlights. It was like he was playing in mud, everything was plodding and slow. He didn't look like the same player. It wasn't until he was traded to the Pacers that he became that jungle cat again... Why am I talking about JO when quoting a post about Meyers? Because I believe in the similarities of their learning curves. In fact if Jermaine is to be believed he does to. Truth is with Meyers shooting touch and mobility I want us to pick up another 5 because I do feel like he has the potential to slide over to PF on occasion, and who knows how ling it's going to take him to develop.

I just read a stastistical analysis of Dieng that projected him at Nearly 13pts and over 10 rbds as a rookie. That along with 2blks and 2 assists. Ironically the guy doing the analysis called him a barely above league average player with those numbers. I don't know if this guy (BE fan posts bumped to front page) is hitting the wacky tabacky but if he's accurate Dieng will be drastically better than ANY center available in a trade and would fit perfectly next to LMA. I've enjoyed the series of comparable analysis but am unconvinced by his statistical conclusions.
PS
The formula he is using absolutely HATES Shabazz as a prospect, and figures Adams as best available big man.

It will be very interesting to see who agrees to workout in Portland for some guys
like McLemore, Oladipo, Porter, etc know they are going higher while others would
love an invite.

I'd love it if Gobert and Adams would agree to a joint workout. Putting together a
group workout would be informative for specific drills could be setup to see how
each player reacts to coaching. Probably they will begin the first week in June
for picking at 10, we're not the first destination for the players.

I found it here:

the same author has several different evaluations on that website

how credible they are at prediction I don't know

I'd be a little suspicious of any evaluation that uses defensive rating as that is such a team-dependent stat

It's a fan post. Interesting, but I don't think much of a proven methodology.

im curious. what would be the feeling of Portland fans if they drafted allen crabbe at 10? I think its a real possibility. his stock is skyrocketing right now, hes been killing it shooting in workouts. hes #15 in chad fords latest mock. I think KCP might be gone by your pick to the wolves and they are very similar players, the knock on crabbe was his athleticism but he proved that wrong at the combine. he fills a need for u, was pac12 player of the year, led it in scoring, carried his team, best shooter in the draft. might be a reach at 10 but I don't think it would be a bad pick. I think hes a legit starting 2 guard.

We saw a lot of Crabbe at Cal this season in the Pac-12 and he was as inconsistent as
his team.

It's likely Portland will draft a big at 10. Whether that player is Gobert, Adams, Zeller,
Len, etc remains to be seen but its very likely most of the bigs in this draft with the
exception of Noel and perhaps Zeller will be there at 10.

I have spent some more time reading through those evaluations, and they are fascinating. He is an amateur (ie non-paid) so it is very impressive and obviously time consuming work. I don't completely agree with the methodology, but it still is informative. It is especially interesting to go back and look at his Lillard and Leonard evaluations from last year.

For the evaluations posted on Blazersedge.

Best place to access them all is the author's blog:
http://www.sbnation.com/users/ziggythebeagle/blog

Original Lillard:
http://www.blazersedge.com/2012/9/23/33 ... omparables

Original Leonard:
http://www.blazersedge.com/2012/9/17/33 ... -we-expect

He says he has refined the methodology since then, as well as adding in a larger database of comparables. But it is still very interesting. And he has a nice mid-season update for both in his blog that compares actual vs projected production.

I'm not sure how you can say that you'd take Adams over Gobert when there really isn't the same sample size of videos on Gobert as there is on Adams.

As someone else stated, I think they should try and get Gobert, Adams and Dieng all in for a workout and see how they do. I'm sure multiple teams would be interested in attending a workout like this.
