That one does catch the eye. I remember when somebody first posted that one. It's definitely creative. I doubt they'd be able to do it in such a way where the rips were legitimate (in other words... layers) but if they could it would be pretty unique.

That said, it could end up looking a little cheap and dated quick. Like, that strange phase a couple years back where people were spending hundreds on designer jeans with tons of rips in them even though they looked kind of cheap.

I also think it just seems better because of how professional the mock-up is. The closer to reality the jersey appears the more receptive people seem to it.

Cursive Writing is as cool as tribal was in the 90's.

Was kind of my point... logo's are a lot like a tattoo.
You should avoid trend's, fads and gimmicks... Cursive writing is VERY trendy, just like tribal was.. If this was 1996 and we were doing this same thread.. We would be littered with tribal inspired designs.

^^^ I'm working on a mix of classic cursive lettering 'Huskies' and medieval inspired husky logo, so hopefully that appeals to both of you. Cursive is indeed a bit 'trendy' and 'hipster' but I think it appeals across the generations because of it's heritage in early sports brands.

I've done a raptors re-brand before but not a Huskies one. It's interesting to note that 2016 won't just be the 20 year anniversary of the Raptors but also the 70th anniversary of the Toronto Huskies. Anyway I'll post some stuff here in the next few days and try and get some feedback before finalising it.

These are a couple templates I think we should play off:

Image

Atlanta: I really like the design of these jerseys, just not the colour scheme. But if we can put our own colour combination on them we'd be looking good. They also had the player name below the number on the back of the jersey. Also possibly include a really mean looking Raptor or Husky depending on which way we go.

Image

They are also another clean, but classic scheme. Just the name and number, but so good. I particularly like how the city name isn't the generic horizontal look, instead its vertical.

it would have to be a vintage looking jersey.
the post above re: the Portland and Atlanta jerseys is exactly the way to go.
keep it classic and clean. you make it look too modern and it becomes awful real quick

Agreed. You want it to have a look as though its been around for decades and still looks great. The Nets pulled that off. Don't see how we can't.

I look forward to seeing it.. But too many are doing the LA Chicano style cursive, which is way too trendy.

An Astros, Orioles, Dodgers, Mets style cursive ..is classic and timeless.

If we're talking about a rebrand to the name, i think the uni is putting the cart before the horse.

Those are reassuring examples that I'm on the right path, thanks. I'm trying to create a classic brand that feels timeless and would have looked as 'right' in 1946 as it does today.

should be easy.

These ones are amazing. Definitely should go with these ones. The black one should be a little more darker though.

I'd love it if our jerseys lost the tiny letters for player names. I prefer the classic-style lettering on the Spurs, Knicks etc jerseys. I'd also prefer a slightly more plain jersey with a more conventional jersey shape (I don't like the jerseys that look like sleeveless t-shirts)
