Unless "Rapskies" is part of the discussion (which it obviously should be), I'd rather just stick with Raptors and change the colour scheme to blue/white.

Cathal Kelly advocates for a name change here, but not Huskies:

http://www.thestar.com/sports/raptors/2 ... kelly.html

The only culture change that matters happens in the win column. For the next little while, the Raptors will be doing the other kind.

A uniform change is an easy bait-and-switch. The more pressing issue is the name. The name is a citywide blight, on every level from metaphorical to allegorical to literal. Did these people watch the movie? The dinosaurs lost in the end. This at least makes this performance sinkhole thematically consistent from the jump.

Choosing “Raptors” was the worst decision in naming history since the creation of the Holy Roman Empire, which, as Voltaire pointed out, was neither holy, nor Roman, nor an empire.

man stick with the raptors.. ppl seem to think changing the name will automatically alter our success route. These are possibly the same ppl that get superstitious if a gamethread title has been messed with.

If we get it changed im 100% sure Raptors fans will be cryin on how we need to bring the name back in a couple of years lol

Stick with the raptors for sure.

Huskies is just terrible.
On Gerald Henderson vs Derozan:
"Yes. Hendo is quite a bit better than DeMar.
So yes, I do believe he's currently the better player and do project that will continue to be in the future. I would also take Turner over DD."

Yeah it has since been discovered most two-legged dinosaurs had feathers and looked a lot less badass. The real velociraptor was about the size of a large wild turkey.

Didn't TL mention that were approaching an important milestone(20th anniversary). What importance is it if were going to change the name?! Keep the Raptors. I like how unique it is. Name another professional sports franchise named the Raptors? We have history here, a lot of losing, but there's still history. Legendary basketball figures like Lenny Wilkens, Isiah Thomas, and Hakeem Olajuwan have ties to the Raptors. Ok, Hakeem was a big let down, but it was awesome to see a top 10 all time player suit up for the Raptors. We had the greatest dunker of all time soar across arenas wearing the "Raptors" on his jersey. We have had a lot of losing and heartbreaking moments, but these moments should still be cherished as the growing pains that lead to success(hopefully). Winning the title as the Raptors would definitely be sweeter than winning it as the "Huskies". Unless your'e an OG Huskies fan...who witnessed some dude named Ed Sadowski chuck his way to 20 ppg(sounds like the original Bargnani) back then. Please, forget about Huskies.

LETS GO RAPTORS!!! (this chant will never die!)

Maybe I am biased, having grown up in Halfiax where the historical sports success of SMU has at times cast a long shadow, but I think Huskies is a great name.

"Raptors" is a cartoonish joke and I am so tired of Toronto's NBA franchise being/being associated with a cartoonish joke.

And I have to say, it frustrates me to no end that people are actually defending keeping the "Raptor" name. Seriously, I thought this would be a no-brainer.

Raptors. One of the best names in the league. The only thing that needs change is the uniforms and the court design

The uniforms were a cartoonish joke. Nothing is really wrong with the overall name is there? I mean how does a raptor have anything to do with a cartoon? It doesn't.

A lot of the jerseys looked "cartoonish" in the mid 90's.

It frustrates me that people are actually considering Toronto Huskies. Huskies? I have a Husky and I wouldnt want a team with that name. From what I have read on Raptor behaviour at least Raptors could be considered somewhat vicious, agressive, possible pack hunters etc..

Hopefully there isnt too many people that think like you otherwise we will have the "weakest" team name in all of basketball.

Wow. LOL. Like changing the name will really do anything.

I think it would cause alot of fans to care even less. I'd rather see them turn it around with the current name, change the court at the ACC, change the atomosphere overall at the ACC, and bring in players that play with an aggressive, strike first, no BS attitude.

The US Airforce named the F22 Advanced Tactical Fighter the "Raptor" and I have never heard anyone complain about its name or that it sounds too cartoonish.

I still really like the name Raptors, even in the face of some really nice jersey design submissions for Huskies. And while I never liked the purple, I do like the red.
Raptors Season Ticketholder since the 2000 playoffs, through all the lows... build to the championship high... to Tampa and back again.

Wish our military used the F-22 Raptor in our fleet. That way we could rebrand from dinosaur to jet without changing the name.

I'm not against changing the team name, but not to Huskies. Huskies is unimaginative, unoriginal, and would be too similar to the Timberwolves. Furthermore, why do the colours have to be blue and white? I can't think of many cities where all the sports teams have the same colours.
