My friend said this the other day and I actually didnt mind the name. Something Canadian , historic and powerful

THE TORONTO MOUNTIES ????

When we say Toronto its usually more like " Torono" and when we say Monites its really " Mounies".

"The Torono Mounies!"

Los Manos, I personally find your "first draft" incredible! Can't wait to see your next samples.

Regarding the Raptors versus Huskies names... I think these camps are pretty much divided along age demographics. If you were young and grew up with the "Raptors" name, then it makes complete sense that that would be the name you would be more comfortable with. But, if you were 20 years and older when the team was launched, you most likely remember the Barney comparisons at the beginning and would have no problem dumping the name and embracing the Huskies moniker.

Just as a frame of reference, I have both VC and Alvin Williams purple and black game worn jerseys in my collection but would have no problem switching to the Huskies.

By the way, I'd buy those Huskies jerseys in a heartbeat!

The Toronto Shield
- as in the Canadian Shield
- it brings some Canadian heritage, and it has resemblance to Canada as a whole rather than Toronto by itself (something Tim Leiweke suggests)
- shield can also signify tough defense
- the design can be similar to how Jazz, Golden State have a landscape background

I actually really like the sound of Shield, it sounds tough.

Silhouette of a large Raptor bird thingy on the CN Tower.
Pack of Huskies trailing a sled containing the skyline, also a silhouette.

Nice Huskies work. Unfortunately I think second guessing "RAPTOR" is folly. Refresh the existing brand don't re-invent the wheel. Looks like the usual TO inferiority complex to question the brand.

Exactly, Toronto fans are just too used to hating on everything. The grass isn't always greener. The huskies wouldn't be a terrible name but its much to similar to the t wolves. I can guarantee most people would find something to complain about a new name if it were to be changed. I think the problem is the stigma attached to the brand and that will change once the organization starts heading in the right direction, which lewieke & masai appear to be taking it.

Opinion on the majority of Jersey designs.

Post#213 » by Rep905 » Sat Jun 8, 2013 8:02 pm

Let me first say, I appreciate all your efforts in creating a new jersey. However, I have to admit that most of them are terrible. If you look at classic jerseys such as Boston, Bulls, Knicks, etc. They are simple, they don't have a big mascot (n our case the big dinosaur) in the front. No offense but most of the designs are flat out bad and it's shocking to me how many of you like the circle raptor jersey with the Raptor coming out or even remake of the Raptor logo created by Double Helix (it looks like an angry snake, it's just to childish). This is not a comic book organization, it's a professional sports team. The only one that is worthy of showing/presenting to MLSE is the design by Los Manos of the Huskies. That is a clean, simple yet elegant jersey. Please Raptors nation, lets share Los Manos design so that it can gain some momentum, we deserve a good looking jersey. Even though i'm not advocating for a name change, but at least this jersey is a legit option. I had to give my 2 cents, it's makes me uneasy that some jersey designs are actually getting an approval by some users.

*Don't respond by telling me lets see what you can do so we can rip on it, I never said I can do better than the posters, BUT Los Manos is on another level. You really want MLSE to take notice, quit it with the Microsoft Paint.

Initial impression: Love it.

Second impression: Dog is facing the wrong way.

I would love to see the Husky done in an Indian style. Like the following, but a side shot.

Um yeah, cuz what does a 'celtic' or a 'knick' look like anyway?

Since you mention snakes, yeah, lets go that way instead. The Toronto Garter Snakes. We can play in the Garden.

Or at least follow the science and go with Raptor Green (and throw in a few feathers as well). There weren't any red, black, or purple Raptors.

I like the green Raptor uniforms that they wear on (made up irish holiday excuse to drink green beer day - st. paddy's) the 17th every spring. They make the team look like the Celtics, but it also makes them look better than the Raptors every other day of the year. (plus, we win more wearing them, and we win more wearing the cammo greens as well)

Anyway, my worthless 2 bits.

I would love this too. But it makes me sad at the loss of the Vancouver Grizzlies. I had one of their unis done in the same style once.
