How far will his highschool hype take him? Supposedly hes been looking pretty good in workouts. Can he sneak into the first round? How good will be be?
Got to fix that bowlegged jumper and lower those turnovers, but I think hed be a solid early 2nd rounder who could develop into a decent backup. He does have some nice PG instincts, quickness, and length. Theres still a lot of room to improve with him.

I have him as my 2nd round steal if he lasts that long. Quickest player in the draft.

Very conceivable starter. That should be enough for top 20 consideration

Slow guards who can't shoot find their way out of the league quickly.

IMO The PG position is so saturated right now that physical tools alone isn't enough to separate Kabongo from the pack.
From an individual standpoint, there is a lot to like, but at this point, the standards for a quality NBA PG have been raised and I'm not sure Kabongo meets it.

Not even as a backup though? I dont think many people believe hes going to be an All Star or anything, although he has talent.

Well I wouldn't call him fast compared to other NBA PG's. there are only a handful of guys in the NBA at the pg position that can't shoot. It seems like a lot of people in this thread are buying into his highschool hype for whatever reason.

and it sounds like you're trying to make stuff up to downgrade him. he's not slow.
he's quick with the ball. has excellent change of speed. is fast in the open court with the ball and is quick laterally.
nothing about the way moves says that he's slow.

Kabongo isn't all physical tools though. He has pretty solid feel and vision.
He's not a shoo-in starter but a draft has what, 10 or 11 starters on average? I think if a guy even has a 50% chance of being one of those guys that's the right type of pick to make in the 20s

Keep in mind it's easy to look good when Kabongo isn't playing anyone, he's likely to go late first round as a pg... In this draft the chance of finding a productive player around there is extremely slim.

i really don't care what he looks like in workouts. i've seen him in games and he's anything but slow.

Re: Kabongo drumming
I also remarked on Kabongo speed and athleticism in prior posts.. He's way overrated in that regard, and finishes weak and below the rim in the paint. I just dont see the love. He's as mediocre a prospect as Marques Teague imo, and Teague will likely be out of the league once his initial contract is done as well
