KG and Pierce to Brooklyn?

Post#1 » by DHodgkins » Thu Jun 27, 2013 5:07 pm

Boston and Brooklyn discussing a blockbuster deal that would send Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce to Nets, league sources tell Y! Sports

Possible Nets package includes expiring deal of Kris Humphries, Gerald Wallace, Tomike Shenglia and three first-round picks, sources tell Y!

There's no indication that Garnett has yet to be consulted about waiving his no-trade clause for such a possible deal, sources tell Y!

Thoughts?

Collect assets. Who cares about a division foe. However I don't see it happening.

Wallace has a horrible contract for a rebuild team, we are literally bending over for them and taking their garbage

Not a fan. I hate Humphries, Wallace is playing at a scrub level yet he almost has a max contract. I would likely criticize Shenglia if I knew who he was. However I will say this: with a name like Tomike Shenglia he has to be an awful NBA player.

I don't like the idea of giving them up for hot garbage like Wallace who is owed 30 million over the next three year. Why not just keep Pierce and KG and let them expire?

Ewww. Gerald Wallace?!?! I don't believe this for 1 minute. Ainge would NEVER take back that contract. He got 3yrs & is owed 30million!! I'll take Humphries & the picks if we HAVE to rebuild.

These rumors are the types that are just bs. Not worried about it.

This could be for 4 first rounders if Brooks is included and then flipped to Minn

Wallace would be the second highest paid Celtic (3yr 30mil) after Rondo. YIKES.

Three first round picks seems like a great haul, though. That would set up a very nice rebuild.

One thing to note: The Hawks have the right to swap 1st rders with BK in 2014 and 2015. So this is all slightly confusing.

Probably Danny trying to shake the bushes a little bit to get better offers from other teams.

Wallace makes $10,105,855 for the next three years
Humphries makes $12,000,000 next year

Doesn't Wallace have another three years left on his contract? Don't like having to pay him another three years of 10 million on a rebuilding team.

I think the deal would depend on the draft picks. If we are really being offered three of them, we would have to assume that one of them would be for 2015 unless I'm forgetting about another 1st round pick the Nets have from another team. Best case scenario, KG/Pierce retire by then and the Nets become a rebuilding team again, making their pick even more valuable for us.

Edit: Wow, posted this as soon as I saw the thread pop up and this post is already on the second page. Gotta love draft day.

Essentially you guys would be getting 4 first round picks from my understanding 3 from us and Brooks being flipped to Wolves.

The Nets have nothing but trash on their roster and no picks of value. Unless we're getting Brook Lopez in return (sarcasm obviously), I can't really see a deal being reached with them. Bringing a third team would only complicate things even more I'd presume.

Can you recap the Brooks deal?

I like getting Humphries' expiring deal and the first round picks, but not Gerald Wallace. Why take him on for 3 years? Pierce is on expiring deal this year. I rather take PP and Wallace out. If that means 1 less draft pick, then fine.
