You guys think Gortat is terrible lol no he's not Noah but he does what Noah does at a cheaper contract.

He's probably in the top 10 in double doubles..he's not a scrub

Not.

Even.

Close.

Marcin Gortat finished 7th in double doubles in 2011-2012, ahead of Greg Monroe, Noah, josh smith, David lee, Marc gasol, Lebrun, Duncan...list goes on

Last year he got injured...I'll take Gortat and be happy

Dude, he still played 61 games, and averaged 31 mpg. Stop cherry picking your arguments. 11/8.5 w/ a 15.5 PER is nothing to get excited about.

Chicago gets: Aldridge, Asik
Portland gets: Noah, Robinson
Houston gets: Hamilton, TPE

Why for Chicago: Aldridge becomes your #2. Asik fills the void at Center and gives you a guy who's played in the system before and can be a defensive presence. Allows you to trade or amnesty Boozer and possibly re-sign Deng.

Why for Portland: You get what you want, plus a former top 5 pick from last year's draft.

Why for Houston: You get rid of Asik and Robinson's salaries, minus 1 mil for the Hamilton buyout. Plenty of space for Howard and probably something else.

The Rockets would have to get at least some draft picks in this proposal. Maybe more. Teams would line up to take Omer off their hands.

Yeah, didn't really throw draft picks in because that's all semantics. Point is, it works financially.

So was Noah - and yet Noah finished 14th in double/doubles (as opposed to Gortats 41st).

Gortat isn't even in Noahs stratosphere as an all-around player.

Contrary to popular belief, he isn't. He might be better than Boozer, but seems more a marginal upgrade. And no, he isn't better than Noah.

Damn, the kool-aid sipping is out of control right now.

Its unfortunate that LMA's shots result in him in the bottom quarter of all F/C in TS% (players scoring at least 10 ppg)

we wanna amnesty a guy who makes similar money and provides similar offense by getting rid of our SG and backup PF as well? i don't get it

We are not winning a championship with that scrub on our roster.

We get it man, Noah is great. But that doesn't mean I wouldn't flip him for a 2nd option on offense if the opprotunity presented itself.

He is not without flaw...

flaw is we won't have a center if we trade Noah. Gibson, Aldridge nor Boozer can really play center. Take away a position of power against teams like the heat just to upgrade at power forward(I agree Aldridge is better but not by a whole lot). We need to keep Noah if we trade for Aldridge or else it's a wash.

I like the beat in this video. Very Neptunes like....Anyway, everyones saying we draft Dieng as a Noah replacement but isnt that contingent on a) hes available at 20 and b) we dont include 20 in the trade to get aldridge?

I would take Withey then.

I figure Houston wants Howard bad and has little use for Asik at that salary. So why not move him while making room for Howard? As for the amnesty - I think the Bulls would pull the trigger if it was a matter of getting Aldridge or not.

I think this may partially be due to the fact that Stotts used LMA in a much different way this year. He forced him outside and essentially make him a jump shooter. Getting the ball to him in the post should improve his TS%.

This is the way I see the deal happening if it does go down:

Deng + 20 pick/Thomas Robinson to unspecified 3rd team for a lotto pick (Wash?)

then

That lotto pick, Taj, and the Charlotte pick to Portland for LMA.

Portland ends up getting a young vet who is an elite defender in Taj (sorely needed), a high pick in this draft (#3 could be Oladipo or anyone Portland likes) and the Charlotte pick, which they could either swap directly with Charlotte to get their own pick back or hold and see what happens.

Since Portland doesn't need Deng directly the key is unlocking his value for them somehow. The alternative is they could take on Deng and trade Batum. You kinda end up in the same place.

The fact that no deals are happening right now, though, makes me wonder whether a lot of potential deals are player dependent: since no one knows what's happening at the top of the draft, the rest is contingent until people know who's there to be picked.

I watched a ton of Gortat last year...you don't want him. He's a decent rebounder and shot blocker but offensively he's extremely soft and during that one year he went crazy in Phoenix he had the highest % of FGs assisted on of any player in the league. He's another Steve Nash/Phoenix product who looks better than he really is.

My main point is that a lot of the trades proposed have us including 20 lol

They are nothing alike. What are you talking about?

Watch Gortat...he rebounds, scores easy buckets, blocks shots, runs the floor, protects the rim...there diff players but do the same things. Now put a 20&10 pf next to him and your good

Finished 7th in dd's 2011-12NBA season

Gortat is one of the worst defensive centers in the NBA. Guys lick their chops to post him up.

I'm all for shot creators, but just because a player can creat his own shot, says nothing about whether that shot is going in or not. Brandon Jennings can get anywhere on the court, but he can't finish to save his life. For all his creating abilities, LMA is too content to sit back and hoist 20 footers with a hand in his face. Again, he is NOT an efficient scorer. I wouldn't mind him here, but for Noah? **** that.

First of all, I would never trade Noah for LMA. That is not what I am advocating. I am advocating getting him at any other cost (besides Rose of course). LMA became content with shooting jumpers this year because that's what Stotts wanted him to do. Look at his numbers from previous years and you'll see that he never shot as many jumpers as he did this past year.

I expect us to pursue LA later this summer. It seems he's giving Portland some time to field offers and it's gonna take longer to make a market for him. At least if we don't make a move today I don't think it rules us out from making a move for LA later in the summer.
