Crying about Gerald Wallace's contract is about as short sighted a thing as I can imagine. Danny Ainge just traded two guys that it looked like we might have to buy out for 3 first round picks two of those Nets picks will be after KG and Pierce are gone and JJ is 34 and making 30 million dollars.

KG and Paul are my favorite players ever and I am actually thrilled they will get another crack at a title together. But Ainge has pulled off a miracle here.

Bill Simmons hates that is all you have to know.

Did you really think we were getting a great player or great prospect or lottery pick for KG & Pierce? Quit being homers and be realistic. This is one of the best possible offers we could get for two 37 year old players who are on big contracts and could retire soon.

Well - let's just say some of us liked it better when the rumors involved Asik + TRob for Pierce. I have no doubt Danny took the best deal he could get. But it's not one that goes down easy (except for Caveman, we hear you).

Yes... but that rumor was fantasy land and had ZERO chance of happening. Welcome back to reality.

So who's gonna be the starting 3? They're gonna play Wallace at the 4?

Asik & T-Rob for Pierce?

You guys really believed that? Houston wasn't trading Asik unless they 100% knew Dwight was coming in and there was no possible way they would trade for Pierce after confirmation from Dwight since they wouldn't want to add his salary and it would be past his buyout deadline.

That was nothing more than false hope.

I don't think Wallace's contract will look as bad if we can dump Bass And Lee.

$15m in expirings at the deadline, led by Humphries and Crawford. $9m in expiring contracts next summer with Bass and Evans.

With Rondo, Green, Bradley, Sullinger, Melo and Olynyk as other tradable assets.

I am stoked.

Maybe Danny buys out Humphries. Or else they settle the score with Rondo at 1st practice.
Good assessment:

Regardless of whatever bull we wish to spew, those guys shouldn't be wearing black. Sad days.

Not a great deal. Those picks may end up being worthless.

I can understand taking Hump, his contract expires and can provide some hustle off the bench in limited minutes.

Wallace is laughable, his game fell off a cliff last season. He was an emotional mess that looked and played like GARBAGE. His contract is one of the worst in the league and he plays a position that we have filled.

Relying on draft picks is what the Bobcats have been doing for the last decade, but at least they were in the lottery. These picks? Yippie!!!

The Nets literally kept their core intact and gave us all of their crap in the process.

One of the picks is in 2018...5 drafts from now. No telling how high that pick could be.

Sully. The picks are 2016 and 2018

We have the 3 and 5 years to those picks. How long is that? About as long as this championship run.

Those are way far away picks, and we have no cap room.

I love this trade. I will write a detailed post about why in the coming days.

Also... Best of everything to Pierce and Garnett. They have been wonderful Celtics.

Dick response to a pretty clear post. I was explaining why 'some of us' might be disappointed at this, based on the earlier rumors. Obviously those earlier rumors weren't real or it would've happened.

Asked directly if Rondo was a superstar worth building around - a la Pierce in 2007 - Ainge said emphatically, "Yes."

Chris Forsberg @ESPNForsberg 2 minutes ago
Not hard to read between lines with Ainge tonight. When mentioning future, didn't include Pierce, KG, or Terry in references.

Jessica Camerato @JCameratoNBA 4 minutes ago
Ainge said there are players on Celtics he's not looking to move right now, including Rondo.

I wouldn't read too much into that. He has to say yes.

This team squeezed as much that could have from kg and pp. if you are fans of kg and pp you should be happy they have a shot at a title and no longer have to carry a team. I will root for them, against the heat but that is it.

Don't like Wallace's contract but his team was not winning **** the next three years anyway as long as Lebron is healthy. Now is a great time to rebuild.

I attended the C's/Nets pre-season game in person. It was the Nets' second pre-season game, and they played all the starters big minutes the game prior to win their pre-season home opener. The Nets played strictly second-stringers, and won the game. One of their Europeans hit a bunch of threes. I hope that guy is included, whoever he was. I couldn't keep them straight all game long.

That is all.
