Danny Ainge just traded two guys that it looked like we might have to buy out for 3 first round picks two of those Nets picks will be after KG and Pierce are gone and JJ is 34 and making 30 million dollars.

KG and Paul are my favorite players ever and I am actually thrilled they will get another crack at a title together. But Ainge has pulled off a miracle here.

Bill Simmons hates that is all you have to know.

Sully. The picks are 2016 and 2018

We have the 3 and 5 years to those picks. How long is that? About as long as this championship run.

Those are way far away picks, and we have no cap room.

The only thing that has to happen is time.

A year from now, this trade will look phenomenal. Especially when we have the 5th, 20th and 22nd picks in a stacked draft.

C's are in a good spot honestly. Lots of future assets and expiring contracts to look forward to. Need to go through rough years to reach the spot you want to be at.

Going to miss KG in green and Pierce, but its not like I wont watch them. I hope they win it all in Brooklyn, i really do. Here's to a short rebuild and to a quick return to the top...only thing I can hope for. Still got 9 to root for.

This sucks. For KG, Pierce, and Terry, we get, basically and possibly, one; ONE (2014 pick) potential asset to aid us during the rebuild. I'd think we'd at least be able to get Brooks/Teletovic and their pick at 22.

We also get the **** contract of Gerald Wallace for three years 30 million. A guy who scored 9 points per 36. Shot less than 40 percent. 28 percent from deep, and rebounded at a rate comparable to Jeff Green.

To add fuel to the fire I am currently burning in, We traded two seconds next year and our pick this year for Kelly Olynyk. Tim Lincecum's 7 foot twin. A dude that can't defend his position, can't protect the rim, and can't play next to Sully at all. He is barely an asset.

Any season ticket holder should have seen this coming.

Oh REALY? I suppose you know a few 13 year olds that have nba potential? Do you have a mock for the 2018 draft? What moron thought we would trade two great players for 3 picks over FIVE years ANd take a CRAP contract back?

In a week or so we need to start a thread to thank these guys, cause this trade is not a 100% sure thing yet. I mean, they agreed to it, but it still has to go through.
Good assessment:

Don't like Wallace's contract but his team was not winning **** the next three years anyway as long as Lebron is healthy. Now is a great time to rebuild.

I'm in agreement. It's like some people on here thought we would get a dream deal where we got Eric Bledsoe or Omer Asik & Thomas Robinson. Those were all fantasy scenarios. Now we're in reality. There was no scenario where we traded KG & Pierce and got amazing prospects & picks back.

This team will not be good for the foreseeable future, this was to be expected once we parted ways from the Big 3 era. Even if we bought out Pierce and let KG retire, this team still would've been awful. There was no avoiding that.

You sure about that?

Asked directly if Rondo was a superstar worth building around - a la Pierce in 2007 - Ainge said emphatically, "Yes."

Chris Forsberg @ESPNForsberg 2 minutes ago
Not hard to read between lines with Ainge tonight. When mentioning future, didn't include Pierce, KG, or Terry in references.

Jessica Camerato @JCameratoNBA 4 minutes ago
Ainge said there are players on Celtics he's not looking to move right now, including Rondo.

But all of these were came from Ainge's mouth , not Rondo. I'm not surprised if Rondo wants to request a trade

Adrian Wojnarowski @WojYahooNBA 3h

Kris Joseph will part of the Nets package to the Celtics, as well as the right to swap draft picks in 2017, league source tells Y! Sports.

Hopefully that swap option in 2017 has got some decent protection action.

I'm bummed, but its the right move. You can't be emotional when it comes to building true contenders.

I like the trade too. I think it was the right thing to do by Ainge to give Pierce and KG a chance to compete for the title again. It wasn't going to happen in Boston next year. How many opportunities would there be to send of your aging leaders in a respectful way and get back 3 firsts? And Wallace contract? It will come in handy when Ainge is ready to start cashing in on the chips. Gotta think about the future even though it's hard to see two of the greatest Celtics leave.

Besides, I live in NY so will now go to a Nets game, and yes, root for them-- proudly and loudly for KG and PP. This is going to be the year to shut Wade and Bosh the **** up.

Holy ****!

The Nets spend money, but they have HUGE potential to flame out or get big injuries.

A bunch of old dudes with injury issues coached by a guy with no coaching experience.

This is AMAZING.

THANK YOU. Love the trade, this is how you blow it up. Never thought we'd be able to net 4 first rounders for KG/Pierce/Doc.
