Rebrand to Huskies asap. I don't understand why MLSE went red and white when the leafs and marlies are blue and white (and those are the city's colours; i.e., the flag). Don't even get me started on TFC.

No. It's a needless and misguided attempt to put lipstick on a pig and erase history.

Improve the product on the court and the name and colors don't matter.
Upgrading the Raptors brand is a far better way to go.

The Red+White themes were to promote them both as "Canada's Team" because at the time, they were the only teams in their leagues based in Canada. It's likely to remain the case with the NBA, but TFC were so successful early on that Canada now has 3 MLS teams.

Anyone who thinks going Blue+White with Huskies as the name will make the team appeal more across Canada needs to give their head a shake.

There are several points to make here, so I'll start with the following:

1. The Blue+White with Huskies isn't about making the team more appealing to non-fans, it's about correcting the wrong that was made in the first place. You can't fake tradition and history, hence why they wore Huskies jerseys that one season. I think the Raptors logo has changed several times trying to find itself in the marketplace, but the brand is attached to some very negative things. It's time for a rebrand and now is as good a time as any. And given MLSE and their affinity for tradition, it would make sense to rebrand it Huskies.

2. As far as the Raps, yes, this was a marketing ploy. They moved from purple and black to the red and black to encapture the "Canadianess" of the team. But that doesn't mean that won't change in the future, nor does it mean Toronto will remain the only Canadian team going forward. It's silly to think that just because you are red and white, you'll get the whole country. I'm sure there are plenty Wolves fans in MB/SK, Nuggets fans in AB, and Lakers fans in BC.

3. You are kidding yourself if you think the success of TFC spawned Montreal, Vancouver, and soon to be Edmonton. TFC has had great attendance, but the MLS was destined to expand westward anyways. That is why there are teams in Vancouver and Portland, OR. The MLS has targeted markets with a history of soccer TRADITION. Hence why the Impact was moved up from NASL to MLS instead of developing a new brand.

4. You can't upgrade a failing brand. Once you fail, you have to work 2x to shed the negative image. And the Raptors have failed spectacularly at their brand management.

Why is this pro Huskies trash bucket thread still open?

The Huskies name is a mark of failure, dead and died 67 years ago ... put it to rest where it belongs.

Raptors are relevant. Huskies played 60 games.

The Huskies first game was more significant than any game in the Raps 15 year history lol

The Huskies are just a 22-38 team failure from 67 years ago that died after one barely played season. They are about as relevant as the first KKK office in Toronto. Both are something we would like to forget.

i still hate the idea of rebranding but this is excellent work and easily the best quality posted here, better than the majority of pro advertising and design you see these days. i could live with the fish-scale silhouette husky because it looks timeless and fierce as. making a dog you want to pet = failure.

That Huskies design above is great. Terrific work.

If someone could make a timeless yet modern take on the old classic Raptors logo in purple and red, that would be amazing. I think that's where the rebrand should go - celebrating our history as a team.

I can't stand this Husky fad. Am I the only one who absolutely hates it?

What kind of childhood did some you guys have? Dinosaur trumps dog!
Oh thank you for letting me know I'm not the only one that feels that way. The Husky is cool if we have to make a change because its apart of our history. However dinosaurs hands down are better than a dam husky. The fact people are on the husky fad so much is mind blowing.
