I dunno, I think you're underrating the Jazz a little. Even though they play in the West, they should wreck most EC teams whenever they play them. A lot of EC teams and teams in general struggle against solid bigs and Utah has arguably the best future frontcourt in the league. They bench is awful but the starters are young so that should help offset that. If they don't have more wins than my Bobcats than Burke would royally have to crap the bed or Corbin would use a syphilitic crazed monkey to call plays.

The Kings roster is improved top to bottom. Vasquez is a true pass first pg that will make everyone around him better, Mbah a Moute gives them a solid wing defender, and Karl Landry gives them toughness on the glass and scoring. On top of all that I expect McLemore to be right in the hunt for ROY. Sacramento has ridiculous depth. Isiah Thomas, Pattrick Patterson, Marcus Thorton, and Jason Thompson could potentially be the most explosive scoring second unit in the NBA.

It's a contract year for Demarcus Cousins so I wouldn't be surprised if he put up 23/12 and played possessed defense. It's his team, and he's more than capable of doing it.

It's really a shame that the West is so loaded because I could see the Kings winning 35 games but to no avail.

I think Toronto will be a bit surprising. They have a balanced, versatile, deep roster full of young NBA vets. They can defend, they've got shooting, and they've got a couple of guys that can ISO efficiently against certain matchups.

Calderon and Bargnani are addition by subtraction, IMO. Toronto was better without those guys last season. No reason they shouldn't pick up right where they left off.

I never realized how bad Philly's squad looked. That is a beautiful tank.

I think that Raps squad might make a run at the 8 seed late in the season. We don't know yet if the Bucks are even going to have a PG. If they don't they are going to be way down the list.

That Boston roster is pretty rough. Where is the paint defense? Even with their above average perimeter defenders, I don't see how that team isn't in the bottom half of the league on D.

Just a really odd mix there. Rondo and their wunderkind coach have their work cut out for em. In fact, I could see them hold out Rondo until the last 10 games to complete the tank and maintain his trade value.

I don't see Detroit winning 41 games. Their guards flat out suck and Monroe is not very good at all. Drummond and Smith are all they have and I don't see that getting to 40 games, even in the east.

Celtics 35W ? I would guess around 25. That roster just sucks, with or without Rondo, doesn't matter.

Really enjoyed reading these so far (had already seen the Bucks one on the board there). I rate Cleveland higher than Detroit, if Bynum can produce for them this season they'll be around the 5-6 seed mark. I liked his signing, high risk sure, but high potential reward and at a reasonable price.

Nice post.
I'm a celtics fan and I think given how much better the rest of the cellar dweller teams have gotten (many terrible teams have gotten 10 wins better) that's we are far worse thanlast season. Your projection is good but with no KG, no replacement that even resembles Ian mahinmi to patrol the paint, with no shooters(pierce, kg, terry all gone) we are losing at least 10-12 more games. If Rondo goes down we're basically relying on Green, Sully and Bradley. Gulp.
One day Marcus Smart will be defensive player of the year, mark my words.

I believe the Pelicans depth chart will look like:

Holiday / Rivers
Gordon / Tyreke
Aminu / Miller
Davis / Ryno
Steisma / J Smith

With AD playing some mins at C and Reke playing a lil SF.

Fair enough to put them where you have, they need to figure out how to win with a young core, but I wouldnt be surprised to see them beat out the Mavs / Lakers / TWolves.

Good read all up, like your work

If it was me I'd put Kelly Olynyk at PF (since this is his real position in the NBA, the guy is like Dirk he's not a Center) and I'd start Fab Melo at C. Jared Sullinger would come off the bench at PF and Colton Iverson with Vitor Faverani (they signed him in July 22) would split minutes at back-up C. Heck, if Faverani or Iverson prove to be better than Melo then the one who did would start. It's not like the Celtics have no Center depth and need to play Olynyk out of position. One could say that Melo, Iverson and Faverani are not good, of course, but they're tanking so who cares?

I find it hilarious that they don't even have a coach. The players have no idea what kind of style they're gonna play.

Jacque Vaughn was hired July 28th last yer. Terry Stotts was hired August 7th. There is some precedent for not having a coach at this point in the offseason.

Vaughn was more a product of getting the dwight situation straightened out first though right?

Not going to buy in til i see it, there was a lot of hype last year and they started off something like 4-20

I'm getting some great feedback in the team pages. When I finish I'll do a 2nd draft of this and update with the additional input. I may even learn to use that spoiler feature to quote the relevant posts that caused me to edit.

Good stuff coming my way for sure.

I still don't know how you can put the Raptors that far back. We actually played better basketball WITHOUT Bargnani and Calderon. We played .500 ball after the trade for Rudy, yet we'll be worse this year? Even with some teams tanking, which would give the Raps some extra wins?

not to mention 2 of the leagues biggest tankers this season are in our division! (celtics and sixers)
