Spain ain't losing a game. We'll make the 3peat in eurobasket.

We couln't find a flow playing against croatia, but we played an amazing defense allowing only 40 points.
Marc Gasol lead Spain with a double double of 14-11, and Rudy played a good game with 15-8.

You can see the top 5 plays of the first day here, pretty bad list, the top 2 should've been the top play: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YrfiSBl1Dw8

“Despite all the efforts from the Spanish Basketball Federation and myself, I regret to inform you that I won’t be able to join up with the Spanish National Team as I wished and intended on doing. After a long run in the playoffs in 2012, the Olympic Games and this past season in the NBA, the medical staff at the Oklahoma City Thunder have recommended I rest this summer in order to be fit for the upcoming seasons in the NBA and future international championships which I hope to take part in with Spain.

Now I have a couple of months ahead in which I have to work hard to fully recover in order to be ready for next season. But above all I want to thank all the support and backing I’ve received in these difficult times for me from the Spanish Basketball Federation, especially the president José Luis Sáez, and the head coach Juan Antonio Orenga.

Although I won’t be on the court in Slovenia, all my teammates know that my heart and soul will be with them. Good luck Spain!!

All the best,”

He's too sexy for this tournament.
If you want to try to measure the elements of basketball that are supposedly unmeasurable, spend a game just watching Marc Gasol.

Finland is up 17 against Sweden. The Finns play with great passion and are a team worth watching.

All the other matches are really close. Latvia is up 4 against Montenegro, Croatia and Georgia are tied and Ukraine is up 2 against Israel.

As a swede, this is disgusting to watch. I honestly feel bad for Jeff Taylor because he's the only one who's showed up. Jerebko is playing like a bum which is disappointing because he was the one who dragged us to eurobasket with his 20/6/5 average in the qualifiers. I don't know what the hell has gotten into him these last two games.

Finland are really impressive though. Their offense is killing us.

Skjöldebrand and Pita are trying as well. They seem like interesting players that deserve some more PT.

Yeah, Sköljdebrand I agree with. He's been bothered by injuries leading up to the tournament so that's why he's playing limited minutes.

Ah, I see. I didn't know that so thanks for the info :)

There is one thing about Sweden that I cannot understand, though. You have a tall team. You should be able to win your share of rebounding battles especially against a small team like Finland. But that isn't the case today. The Finns are winning the rebounding battle and their bigs have completely dominated the paint. Why?

You pose a very good question and I'm not entirely sure what's going on. They were outrebounded badly by Greece yesterday too. I really don't know why, I mean, Kjellbom, Jerebko and Brice Massamba are all capable rebounders but they're simply being dominated. Jerebko is playing way too much on the perimeter for my liking and that sure doesn't help but I really don't have a clue. The effort level isn't there which shows on their offensive rebounding. You know you're in trouble when Jeffrey Taylor is your leading rebounder.

Sweden is one of the few teams I haven't caught yet. How is Ludde Hakanson doing?

I watched the Sweden - Greece game yesterday since I'm Greek and I wasn't really surprised that we won the rebounding battle with ease. We have a good rebounding front-court and athletic swingmen so I do expect us to win the rebounding battle most of the time.

But today was different. Finland (my favorite team to watch) is undersized and even though they have some good athletes they really don't have the player that will soar above everyone and gobble up the boards. What they lack in size they make it up in speed, though. They were faster to the ball and they coralled those long rebounds. That's why you lost the rebounding battle, I think. They Finns showed more hustle and I think that you're right when you talk about the effort level. It wasn't there. They appeared to be a step or two slower throughout the game.

Kjellbom has to improve as a defender. He has the size and the length to do it but he lacks the strength and lateral quickness. It's the first time that I saw Gerald Lee beating someone in a 1vs1 post-up. He was just backing him down and went baseline. Brice Massamba did a better job but he committed some stupid fouls (especially when he fouled Möttölä the moment he posted up even though you were already in the penalty).

In any case, that's a learning experience for your team. They can use it to grow as a team. Most of your players are young.

He's actually been OK. I was surprised that they let him on the floor at all, due to his inexperience but he's doing well. Looks composed and is decent defensively. A great prospect for the future since he is the youngest player in the tournament.

Not bad. He made a nice drive today and he has hit a 3 in both of his games. He is averaging 4 PPG and 1 PPG in 15.5 MPG so far. For a 17 year old, that's good.

Teletovic vs Kristic is really fun right now.
